I was 1st dx in 2001 then had a recurrence in 2005.  Her2+ ER/PR-.  I saw my Onc. today for routine 3 mo. check up.  I mentioned I have been so tired for several months.  I have no energy at all. I feel more tired than when I went through chemo and radiation.  She is checking my thyroid and ordering a MUGA scan. I had routine MUGA scans when I was doing Herceptin.  Last one was Dec. 2006.  I was wondering if anyone developed heart problems a year or two after completing treatment.  (I also had AC both times).  I'm also wondering if radiation can cause thyroid problems years later.  I'd appreciate any info you can provide.  Thank you.

KellyM - My first dx was 12/05 .2cm IDC, er+/pr+/her2+++ rb mast/recon and started tamoxifen; second dx 3/07 3.5cm local recurrence in recon rb, er-/pr-/her2+++ had adriamycin/cytoxin, taxol/herceptin, herceptin till 8/1/08, radiation which ended 1/11/08.

Did the treadmill during all - pretty much no problems except rad burns.  Started gaining weight daily in January, added more fruits/veggies, more exercise and kept going up.  More and more tired and some other things.  Asked for my thyroid to be checked mid April at my 3 month checkup - normal is something like .3-5.5 and mine was 128!  I've had three nurses about freakout that mine was the highest they'd ever seen.  Had the t3 & t4 tests as well - both way off of normal.  Sent for a dexa bone scan (came back fine) and a cholesterol panel (waiting for) and immediately put on synthroid.  I've taken 7 pills as of this morning - I already feel less tired, my face and especially my eyelids are less puffy -

I don't know about later effects but it sure can't hurt to get things checked out to make sure!!   Process of elimination!!

    Good luck!
