Just wondering what your thoughts or your doctor's thoughts are on dairy in your diet?

    Hi Ofusan,

There's another thread concerning triple negs and diet somewhere, either on this forum or on the just diagnosed (chemo brain has me big-time this morning; had my fourth Taxotere cum Avastin yesterday), but the consensus seems to be that an extremel  low-fat diet is one of the best arms we triple negs have against a recurrence of The Beast in the Breast. That would include most dairy, I imagine. I eat Activia every day because of the bowel problems so often associated with chemo, but once this whole ordeal is behind me, I am going to eliminate dairy as much as possible. (God, I'll miss cheese! Yell)

I don't know about soy products for triple negs -- they don't have anything to do with our present type of BC (at least as far as we know), but the fact is that triple negative sisters can present later with a hormone positive version of BC. You have now given me another question to ask my medical team; I'll post when I have an answer.

    Hugs,

    Annie

I've just decided to eat air and drink water...all this stuff is way to much for me to deal with...if I can't eat and drink what I want how is life going to be enjoyable??

Oh no! don't eat air and drink water. both are very bad for you!

Ladies..the best thing is to eat things in moderation, or so I tell myself. we need dairy products. We need all types of food for a balanced diet. Common sense is the key, I think...hmmm

    I second ravdeb.

I believe in moderation and nutritionally balanced diet.

So, osufan, are you thinking about eliminating dairy or adding dairy to your diet?

Thanks girls for your comments.  I actually went in to see my doctor yesterday and asked her about this.  First off, she told me that I worry too much.  Next she said just said pretty much in moderation.  She said everyone - cancer patient or not should eat well balanced low fat diet, and try to stay away from processed foods.  So I think I will try to incorporate more fruits, veggies, water, and lean meats into my diet (which I've been trying to do before cancer) with a little dairy when I want it (can't imagine going all summer without home made ice cream!)

Sounds like a good plan! I was out with friends the other day and ordered an ice coffee that included ice cream and WHIPPED CREAM! I NEVER do that but just felt like having a good time. I think that once in a while, it's a good thing to eat what you please. That's why you should watch it when you can so you can once in a while splurge.
