    Hello ladies

I have a question --today i went to see my podiatrist and she put me in a "cam walker" (its a boot to keep my ankle straight) anyway she needs to do an MRI on my foot but when I told her that I have an expander in my left breast she said they are not able to do one if there is metal anywhere in the expander. Does anyone know for sure what it is that attracts the magnet that the ps uses before we are filled?

lag....I'm not sure about what is in an expander (are you sure that there is some metal or are you wondering if there's any?), but I do know that much of the metal in medical parts used in the body are not the sort that an MRI would affect or vice versa. I was told that metal staples were used to suture my chest bone back together following open chest surgery and when I later needed a chest MRI, I was afraid of getting sucked up by the machine, but was reassured that that just doesn't happen.

Why don't you ask your PS what's in the expander?

I guess i was wondering if there was any; because after i told my podiatrist that I had an implant and that the ps uses a lil magnet type thing to find out where to inject at my podiatrist thought that meant that there was metal in the expander, she even called the people down in MRI and ultrasound and finally someone in ultrasound had the idea to fax a paper to the ps and ask what material there is in an expander-I made it all the way back home b4 they called me back and said that I needed to sign a release form for the ps to let them know anything-this was all at about 5pm so will have to wait till monday to do anything-I just thought someone on the board here would know the answer. I think a just about had the nurse falling down laughing on the floor becasue we were talking about metal objects being sucked up from the MRI and I said oh $##@#  no you aint ripping this thing (expander) out-I've come too far to want to do this again-it was funny!!!!!
