Good day everyone, may you continue to stride on this journey of wellness....I just completed my radiation treatments the last week in April now I feel more tired then I did during my treatments and I have no appetite and I know I need to eat and eat healthy. I could use some ideas of what types of foods would be good? that is also easy and quick to prepare?

I'm into my 1st week of rads...but I've heard after treatment you may feel fatigued.

Feed your body what it can use immediately  for energy..

fresh fruits and vegetables are what make my body feel the best and you can always have them on hand...

banana (bananas are good source of potassium) in oatmeal with walnuts for breakfast is nourishing too.

    I like Sturm's Instant oatmeal

I add a little ground flaxseed, chopped banana and chopped walnuts and stir into the oatmeal. add boiling water then stir.

keep carrots on hand or your favorite veges cut up.

Flaxseed oil gives me energy too in the past, now I use more ground flaxseed.

Make sure you get enough rest post radiation too, and drink fluids.

    God Bless

I just finished up my radiation treatments this week.  YIPPEE!  I read in my radiation book (received before I started), that citrus fruit is good to eat while undergoing radiation.  So, I ate alot of fresh pineapple and oranges.  I'll buy 3 pineapples every time I go to the supermarket, cut them up, and put them in the frig.  The entire family loves it.  I'll have an orange at night when I'm watching TV.  I have found it helps me, hopefully it will help you. :)

I met with the dietician attached to my oncology center when I was having rads - her recommendation was to eat fruits and veges (no grapefruit, cause I'm on tamoxifen), and a little extra protein because we have some healing to do.

Her first recommendation was salmon, followed by tuna, white meat of chicken or turkey, or extra lean beef. We also talked about yogurt - Greek Fage, yum!.  Suggested an extra couple of ounces a day (I usually limit my portion sizes to 4 oz, 1 or two meals per day). She suggested upping to 6 oz.

    Hope this helps

    Sue
