I have just been diagnosed with microscopic invasive w/DCIS - but Grade 3, ER-PR- nu2=3+, did MRI everything ok - ultrasound on lymph nodes =negative - all 3 drs. say they doubt its in my lymph nodes & say that since it was found early, do not worry, I will be fine.  But I hear nu+3 is aggresive & I'm nervous about that.  Any comments

Her2 is generally a more aggressive form-but Herceptin is a fantastic drug that targets Her2-trust your doctors-you will be fine!

    Ftreloar-

I too had DCIS with a tiny focus, "less than 1mm in greatest dimension" of a microinvasion, ER-,PR-,Her2+++, Grade 3, had a negative sentinel node.  Yes, being hormonally negative & Her2+++ does make the cancer more agressive but you have to remember DCIS is non-invasive therefore it is the microinvasive component that has more weight. The size of the micoinvasion, node status & if there was any sign of venous/lymphatic invasion would also help determine the course of treatment. I consulted with several oncologists regarding treatment and they all said that the risks associated with chemo would outweight the benefits for me. As far as Herceptin, the protocol is not to give it without chemo, non of the oncologists would do Herceptin alone.  Since I had a lumpectomy I did do 33 sessions of radiation. My oncologist did do a CT scan of my head, chest, abdomen, & pelvis. Also, a bone scan with & without contract. My doctor is agressive since most doctors won't do the scans unless there are symptoms or you are at more of an advanced stage.  I am being followed very closely & see her every 3 months for a complete exam and blood work. I hope this answer helps to answer your question.  What stage are you at exactly?  I am at T1mic.
