does anyone know anyone who has had this?
he stays so tired. please any advice.

Oh Tawyna, I am so sorry for your DH and you. I do hope he will be seen again by a MRSA specialist, and I do so understand your fear. And of course how can your husband not be so fatigued???
I do have one friend with MRSA too. She has been in and out of the hospital. It is showing it's face where never before.
DO go to any search engine or the CDC website for the hints of household living with MRSA. It means a lot of individual towels for your husband, separate clothes washing, lots of hand washing etc... There's a simple list that you could print and put up in the bathroom for the kids or in the kitchen.
You have your hands full as does your DH. I will say a special prayer for you both tonight.

Tawnya.
I have no words of wisdom, because I have never encountered MRSA.
Take time for yourself when you can , very hard I know with your kids. You have more than a fulltime job with 3 kids and DH, and are you still looking after your mother ?? Wow, you really must be busy.
It must feel like you have all the world on your shoulders.
How about upping the Xanax to get you over the next couple of weeks?
Wishing you the best for DH, hope things improve for him soon, I know its going to add a lot more to your workload, but you are quite a girl, and I know you can do it.
Thinking of you.
Isabella.

Oh honey I am so sorry you are dealing with this. And you need to keep all the stuff clean and use clorox too for disinfection in the clothes. Maybe go to an inexpensive store for a new stack of white towels and white sheets and a separate laundry basket for his dirty stuff to keep separate from the clean basket after the laundry is done. White is good so when you put the clorox in the laundry it won't bleach everything out. Even get him new white boxers and t-shirts and socks since it seems to like hanging around those areas. Even new shoelaces for his shoes. New toothbrushes and toothpaste too. I'm only saying this because I read an article in the paper about it and how to prevent reinfection.
Also, you might buy yourself a box of those disposable plastic gloves so you can wipe down all surfaces with a mix of clorox and water. I don't know if those wipes have the same clorox in them. But there is a clorox spray that does have it in there I know from using it to wipe down my own counters I saw it had bleached out the sweater I was wearing. Buy some 500mg vitamin C for him to take about 4 times a day.
I don't know how much all that helps, but the schools all say to wash the kids gym clothes with clorox in the wash since the boys were coming down with it in the middle and high schools.
I agree with you upping your xanax or maybe asking for some valium because it is longer acting. There is also a 24 hour xanax extended release but maybe only take that if you're so nervous that nothing else works because the 24 hour can really make you sleepy. There is something to be said for cleaning though. It can help get out that nervous feeling and you would know you were killing off those MRSA germs. Also, if you get a chance - try to talk to your GP or a clinic and see if they can help you see the light at the end of this tunnel - the infection may need to burn itself out and will come and go until it's finally done. I hope that time will come sooner rather than later for your family. Good luck, Hanna
ps - another thing is to keep a bottle of those clorox wipes by the toilet so he can wipe the seat down after he uses it. Another thing is yogurt with active live cultures if he likes it is good to help the immune system in the digestive tract. All the antibiotics will wear him out and the yogurt can help restore his digestive tract.

Twayna, I don't have any wise words for you. I've see this on televison. I also know two people who have had it and told my dd to be careful with the kids when they were around them.
Does he keep the infection covered with bandages?
I feel for you. This is a very frightening disease. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. I think Hanna gave you some excellent advice.

tender,
thanks for praying. it is well needed. it is a nightmare and has been for months. it really seems like i am dreaming sometimes. i hate when he gets so sick. today i ask to see his leg and when he showed me it had started to drain.
kinda made me feel a little better.
isabella,
i am still taking care of mom. we found out she has lichen scleorosis
i may have spelled that last word wrong as far as i know it is a skin diease. i seen my councelor today she said up the xanax. i swear it is still hard to eat. larry sees the doctor tommorrow. i do not know what they will do such as hospital or not.
hanna,
my name should be clorox. i have went through so many gloves. doc gave me some and i have been buying them at wal mart to.
i have cleaned so much the doc gave me a thumbs up.
he was surprised no one else had got it. i clean sometimes to try to keep my mind off it. i pray it will go away.
shirley,
oh how many bandages we have went through. different sizes. it is awful.
i think one thing going against him is he is in a wheel chair but he always got around great even worked on cars. i pray i do not lose him to this. one of his infections left a hole you could stick half a q tip in . it healed.
please all of you have larry in your prayers. just typing i feel my panic.

Tawyna:
No other wise words to offer - but you have been given great advice by the ladies here. I just wanted to offer my prayers for you, your hubby and family. It is a heavy load you are carrying now but please feel our love and support around you. As I said, you and your hubby are in my heart and prayers. I pray for peace and healing for you both.
Hugs,

We have been dealing with MRSA for about three years now with my son (he's now 19 but he's had this since he was 16). It started out with a really bad strep infection that turned into this nightmare! The one thing I have learned is that antibiotics only work for so long....the body just needs to learn to deal with infection and hopefully kick in and start fighting back. My son had these "boils" all over his body at one point and couldn't go to school for weeks. He was put on "septra" and that did seem to fight the infection, but for a long time, he kept "erupting" with more boils. We learned how to hot pack, and also how to lance the boils when they were ready to be cleared (not for the faint of heart!) Now at age 19, he rarely gets these anymore and when the do occur, they seem to go away much faster. I do think that the more you take care to eat well and exercise and stay in good shape, the better off you will be as this disease seems to attack the immune system. There is an over the counter medication called "Staph-a-septic" that we got from Rite Aid that seems to help. As for all the sterilization tips, that always is a good idea! We have our son use his own towels and he bleaches out his shower and is just very careful with hygiene. Good luck with this. Anne

Tawyna,
One of my closest friends became infected with MRSA 10 years ago. This happened to her after a lengthy stay in hospital following a horrible accident. She contracted it while in hospital....which is where most people contract it.......and had to spend time in isolation. It almost drove her nuts, as she was still in serious shape. Everyone had to glove, gown and mask before entering her room. I never saw her so depressed as in isolation. Now, 10 years later she is still living with MRSA. She is on continual antibiotics for it which has kept any serious infections away. The downside is that the medication is thinning her bones. Her legs have been rebuilt from the knees down.....mostly rods and plates and some transplanted bone from her hip. Although her legs are always swollen and sore, she no longer has weeping open wounds and has been very healthy and active while living with it. I hope this is encouraging....living with it is possible but has to be well controlled.

hi pat,
thanks for praying. my load is so heavy mentally.
hi anne,
i will have to get some staph a septic.
once larry gets a spot within 2 days he starts being really ill.
hi crazydaisy,
i am so glad your friend is doing good.
i am learning how hard it is to manage it.
it is a shock to me.
larry went to the doctor today.
she put gloves on and drained out more pus.
i got so nervous while she was talking i almost threw up in her office.
i told her i had bad anxiety.
she was telling me how few antibiotics work for mrsa.
i am going to have to get help for my anxiety.
i think depression to.
she said if larry feels worse monday back to the hospital.
she wrote him a prescription for bactrim ds for a month.
i truly thank everyone who listens to me. it means so much.
i hope to god larry gets better . it bothers me that i can help him completely get rid of this.
it is like a bad dream.
