this is so new for me,getting this diagnoses  and having all this stuff running through my mind i'm to busy to stop and go through this what about my family. Iv never been sick before. I can't  stop working if i stop working i'll loose everthiny.  I am a very active  person i just cant lay in be all alday. having had a lumpectomy with removal of lymph nodes. limited use of my left arm.  I work as an cna which require alot of rolloing lifting pushing and pulling. I find myself worried  all the  time.  even thoguh i have alot of family he, i still feel lonely,   a peson  who doesn't have a clue do.

what can a person do to maintain healthy But  realize that you have alot of responsibilities that you just cant overlook

May I suggest you copy and paste your post under the "just diagnosed" thread? It gets a lot more views.



You don't have to of course. One thing that helps us is to ask what your diagnosis is?



To your overlying question of can you keep working, everyone is different and reacts differently to their treatment. Some women can maintain their job while undergoing treatment, others cannot.



It's overwhelming to be diagnosed with breast cancer. We'll do all we can to help you through.

Hi Melissa,

You have a physically, mentally and emotionally tough job.  My daughter worked as a CNA for a year, but she stopped now to go into teaching.  You CNAs are angels!

I know that you're supposed to have a co-worker help you with lifting and turning patients, but my daughter found that often she was on her own.  Especially now, right after your lumpectomy and node removal, you need to insist on help.  Will you be starting other treatment?  Maybe radiation?  In a way, it helps to stay busy.  But cancer sucks, there's no denying that.  You will survive this, but it's tough sometimes.

Melissa---I too am in the same boat.  I go for my mastectomy next week and I am worried about being out of work.  My job also offers no form of light duty as I work in a hospital too.  I am going to take as much of the time as the doctor says I need to but when the bills need to get paid I will be going back.  I have found that my co-workers have been supportive and I think they will continue to be as I continue through this long process.  Your co-workers I am sure will be too.  Hang in there we can as much as you would like.
