I got my hair straightened!!!

I know it is slightly crazy, very expensive, and rather extreme of an action, but on Saturday I spent 3 hours getting my hair straightened.
I've seriously been going rather crazy over my extremely curly and out of control hair. Gosh, I may have even posted on here about that a few times!
I can't wash it till tomorrow, but I can tell it is FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!!
I got it cut, too, and yet it looks like it grew about two inches! IT'S STRAIGHT just like it used to be! The color even looks richer, and has more of a sheen and shine to it (as opposed to the dull, frizzy look it had before!).When I can wash and style it, I will take a picture and post it. I am so excited!

pictures please!!

Isn't that the best feeling after all we have been through? I go on Wed. to get my hair colored again. It has been growing so fast that I go every 8 weeks or so. Just being in the salon is a great feeling. I missed it when I had no hair.
-
Can't wait to see it!! My hair turns so blond/streaky from the sun and then I get these mousy roots that I went to the store and bought hair color and now its like a cinnamon color ..... So this morning after dropping my dd off at school, I went and got some highlights and will put them in today!
We should have a hair thread!!
Again, can't wait to see your new straight hair.

Has anybody tried a straightening iron? I'm curious if that would work. I'm trying to grow the top out and I have this one curl that flips forward. Bugs me.

Cute play on words, Bugs!
I tried (endlessly) to use a straightening iron each and every day.
Sometimes, I'd succeed, and by the time I picked up the hairspray, that stupid flip would re-appear!!!!My hairdresser (I mean, magician) could make my hair straight for the day when I'd get a cut, but I wanted that effect every day with NO MORE fighting with it!

Whoops....... I bought a CHI for my daughter's hair. Her hair has a tendency to curl (wavy and loose spiral) if we don't blow it dry. Even then, using an iron works but I tried ones from Wal-mart and even Target. Finally, I went on line and bought a CHI, it's pink, so she loves it. I also got her a "baby curl" curling iron ... it was at the mall, it was expensive but it was from "Santa" ... the curls really hold. Came with a glove because there is no clip to press/hold the hair, so it comes with a glove. Since it's all ceramic and ionized (whatever this is all supposed to mean) ... it's supposed to hold for some reason.
After your straightening perm wears out, try the CHI if you can get it online, saved a bunch of money that way.

I know you are happy!!!! I have had good luck just doing it myself....

Ok, I hope I am not being a downer but I got my hair straightened to get rid of the post-chemo curls and three days later -- ZING -- the curls were back. Stubborn little boogers. I really hope you have better luck.
It does eventually straighten out on its own. Took me a year and a half. -
Isn't it amazing that getting our hair back is such a treat?! I remember cursing my hair because it was too straight, too red, too this or that. Then...poof...it was gone. I now love my hair no matter what! I color and style it and am so glad to have it back! Way to go Whoops!!!

This is so funny. I thought I would hate my curly hair, and sometimes I do, but most of the time I'm loving it and people are just so impressed with my curls. They keep touching them. LOL I should start charging. Anyway, everyone seems to think they look great on me and I'm thinking of how to keep them (a perm?) once they go away.
Go figure. Anyway, I'm glad your straightening worked out, whoops!

Ok, got the highlighting done this morning ....... It was the kind where you put that plastic helmut over your head and pull the hair thru with the crochet needle?! I got out one of my big crochet needles from my sewing kit and pulled out some chunks then just used the one provided.
I will have dd take a pic if I remember .....oh but then I have to have make up on, huh?
Today, it's sunny, I'm poolside, my daughter and her little friend are coming over for a swim date and all is right today!
----
Whoops, you now have it straight, what is the style that you chose ... you got a lot of hair cut off!!!!!
-
These are pictures I took myself of my "new hair!" I'm sorry to say I (stupidly) didn't take any good "before" shots, but I included a pic of my bad hair from last year to give you an idea!
It's so shiny now!
These two pictures are from ONE YEAR AGO (and taken when I just woke up), but just imagine this exact same hair, only slightly longer, and that is what my hair looked like before the straightening.
-
Whoops-- I love it! And the color is awesome!!
-
WOW!

Oh, don't you look C-U-T-E!!!

My hubby wasn't happy with the cost, because he was convinced that the curls were going to come right back.
Yay! I felt like stopping people on the street and saying, "LOOK AT MY NEW HAIR!!!"
It's the first time in almost 3 years that I'm happy with my appearance (other than my massive weight gain in the past few months, but that is another story!).
-
WOW...beautiful! Your hair looks so healthy and full. Is it true you can only do this on hair that has NOT been colored? I color my hair. I sooooo want to straighten my hair ....just like yours!!!!
-
Beautiful!!!
-
So gorgeous - it's so shiny! I love it.
-
It's absolutely gorgeous!! My sister gets her hair straightened with the Japanese (or is it Swedish?) method.....she's always had frizzy short hair - and wow, what a difference it made in her total appearance! They say nothing changes your "look" as much as a new hairstyle. Way to go girl!
-
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's soooooo long! I can't believe it! It looks great girl. Just awesome. (And I'm not just saying that!!! lol!!)
Member, you made me spit my lemonade out when you said it took a year and a half for your curls to go away......
-
Traci-you just made me spit my diet Pepsi Max when you said you spit out your lemondade!
OMG, you are too funny! I need one of those cute avatars to insert here, so I can show that I am ROFLMAO! -
My hair started growing in slowly in November. It was straight. I wore it slicked back in a man's style haircut eventually, liked it, got beaucoup compliments on it. You may not believe this but in about 3 days time, my hair turned curly. I'm not sure what to do with it now. I've got an appt. with the hair dresser this afternoon.
Whoops, your hair looks gorgeous.
-
Oh Deb....it is SO pretty! THe color is gorgeous too! What a BABE!!!

Thanks, you guys!
I have to say-it's been raining like crazy today, and I got my hair wet. When it dried, it looked exactly the same!!! OMG. No HUGE and FRIZZY hair from humidity?!?!?
This is the best! -
I had the same experience - no friz in the rain. I think my pre-chemo hair was ultra dry from years of bleaching. Now I'm au naturale.
-
love the hair!
-
Your hair looks beautiful!!
I remember hating my super curly hair at first but really grew to love it as it got longer, it lasted about a year and a half and now is just wavy.
I still use the flat iron to smooth it out.
My husband misses my curls, he really liked them.
