Just read the New York times story about how insurance companies are raising co-pays for our sisters in the US, it's got me furious. You would think in an election year they wouldn't dare. But it's probably a fkg cash grab just in case they get universal health care. Whatever the reason how the hell can they just do that. It can and will mean life or death for some of our sisters and I'm pissed.  How the heck can we help them. There has to be a way I'd hate to read that a sister couldn't buy her meds and is suffering.  I'm ANGRY!!!!!!

    Pearl,

This is maddening!  How did the drug companies allow this to happen?  They will lose a lot of business with this new system.  Have to hope that private foundations will kick in money for those who cannot afford these outrageous copays.

Insurance companies are in the business to make money.  The newest drugs on the market are very expensive and I would like to know how they put a price on these drugs.  I suspect the price of some drugs could be at the root of why we don't approval  of certain drugs as quickly as the U.S.

I have a message on my answering machine from the Minister of Health saying I would be contacted by Health Dept.  I was contacted and was given a number of the drug company making lapatinib (Tykerb) and they in turn said to contact the Minister of Health.  I will keep on this treadmill until I get a satifactory answer. My question was, why is it taking so long to approve this drug that has been available to the U.S. and other countries around the world.  If anyone on this site is interested in the appoval of this drug please contact Tony Clement, Minister of Health at the Goverment website.

    Thanks for reading my rant.

    Hugs, Diana.
