Onty - I know you wanted to stay in the study, but I'm really glad to hear that you were able to get some of the Avastin. I know you couldn't continue with the trial because of your reaction to Taxol, but is my assumption right in that they still follow you because you did receive it?
-
Yeah they will follow me. Can't get them off my back :-)
-
Those stalkers, haha! Just caught up on your posts girls! Best of luck!!
-
Just checking in to say hello and hope everyone has a great week........
-
Dear All,
How is your holiday shopping going? I'm not a big shopper during the holidays so I'm not that worried of the fact that with low WBC, chemo schedule etc we are left with less shopping days but I imagine that being quite a worry for some. In any case I wish everyone happy shopping!
-
Hi all! After last year in the chemo suite every week, this year it really feels great to be out there! I have only bought 2 things! I do go to the mall at lunch a few times a week to walk and just enjoy the holiday decorations. I have so much to be thankful for and I don't want to miss anything!
Hugs to all, and praying for healing and counts to come back up! xo
-
I started some of my Christmas shopping in early November, which I don't normally do, but knew I'd need to get a jump start this year. To avoid the being in crowds because I'm worried about the germs and because of the pain in my legs and feet I go first thing in the morning and leave by lunch time. I'm just about finished at this point - a few more trips out and I'm done. I can't wait for next year when I can really enjoy it again!!!
-
Darn I thought I had escaped the dreaded bloody stools. Avastin has caught up with me finally 1 month after I no longer get it...
-
Onty - Sorry the dreaded bloody stools - ugh!!! Turns out I wasn't on Avastin and still have terrible stools w/cactus butt......... I'm still using probiotics and stool softners to help keep things moving.
-
ahhhhhhh chemo and treatment, the gift that keeps on giving....my nurse suggested those Tucks wipes, to keep everything clean and soothed, and lots of ointment for hemorrhoids helped too and that Nupricain you can get it over the counter.
-
Hi ladies!
I am home from my cruise. They had to drag me off the ship. I didn't want to leave!!
Jenn- I am sorry that you were not receiving the Avastin. I know you wanted it so badly. I understand. Are you eligible for the bisphosphonates trial? I started that one as soon as I finished chemo. I've had two treatments of Zometa so far and will continue those for three years. Something for you to look into anyway. I hope the side effects ease up for you soon.
Onty- Sorry that you are not able to go on with the study except to be followed. I only got five of a possible eight Avastin treatments due to high blood pressure on the drug.
Hi Kari! Glad you are enjoying the important things this Christmas season. Going through what we have been through sure changes the perspective, doesn't it? I haven't even started shopping yet! I haven't written one card yet either. I have 10 days to get it done!!
I'll start tomorrow.

unklezwifeonty, Thanks for the info on Plantar faci. I did get a cortizone shot which KILLED and was feeling pretty good. Wore a pair of shoes for a promotion ceremony (only 1 hr) and foot killed that night and next day. Went back to ortho and he is sending me to podiatrist for inserts. I am hoping this works! I went to NYC w/hubby and kids and walked for about 6hrs and foot ended up hurting AGAIN. I can't stop walking.
Brena & Teresa, Well, looks like I am cruising again! My big sister is going to go w/me. She is one of my biggest supporters when I did the 3day in Boston. She is making me book a balcony stateroom. She has never cruised before and would like to be up higher. I can't wait. We are flying in the day before and heading to Orlando to see her step daughter and hubby. Then heading back to Ft L to cruise. I can't wait.
TexasRose: Sounds like you enjoyed your cruise...you deserve it. Its important to take time when going thru all this chemo stuff to take time for one self.
Jenn3: Hope you are doing well and enjoying this Christmas a little better than last! I know that I am WAY behind in my shopping. I was at a BB game yesterday and was asked it I had it done and realized that Christmas is next week!
For those of you still going thru Chemo/rads, do not feel you have to be super woman during the holiday season. Let those around you help so you can keep your strength (what little there is going thru this!) and be able to enjoy as much as you can.

Hi everyone!
-
Dear Kari,
I second that!
-
I finished my last chemo Friday and will go in for my Echo Cardio gram and EKG as per trial protocal the week after Christmas. I don't expect any changes or differences than the last two, especially since finding out I was on Arm A/Placebo. Then......... I'll just be monitored for recurrance or not from this point forward.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE and I hope the snow hitting the East Coast hasn't interferred with anyone's plans.......
-
Jenn!!!!!!!!!!! Finished Chemo? That's WONDERFUL NEWS!!!!!! is rads next up for ya?

-
I want to thank all of you for your support and wish you a HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON!!!
Yes, finished chemo, now waiting for the SE's to subside, but am mentally feeling better now that I don't have to plan my weeks around chemo. I am suppose to start rads mid-late January and am told I will have to do them for 6 weeks.
-
Hi girls!! MERRY MERRY EVERYTHING!!
Onty, 1 more chemo, right on!!!
It takes time for the se's to subside but you WILL gain strength slowly. I'm just now really starting to feel the energy come back. Just got off the treadmill!!
We can all do it together!!
Love you girls, have a wonderful safe holiday!!
-
Dear Kari,
Thanks for the encouragement. God knows we need it.
Merry everything to you too! -
I hope everyones Christmas was joyous! Congrats to Jenn3 for finishing Chemo...New Years should be a huge celebration to start off 2010!
unklezwifeonty-you should be done or close to it to whoop it up on New Year's in celebration of a great year to look forward to. Went to ortho doc and he is sending me to podiatrist to get inserts for my shoes! I am hoping this will put me back in the mode of exercising since I've put on WAYYYYY to much weight.
TexasRose-Sounds like the cruise was what the dr's ordered.
Brena/Teresa-I am booked for the cruise. Finally got a reply back from Shelly. My sister was up from Kansas and I told her I will keep her posted to what's gonna be happening on the cruise. I am getting psyched since it is snowing here and I would love to have some sunshine!
I hope everyone will be having a Happy New Year and looking forward to a healthy year for all
-
Checking in to say hello to all of you and I hope everyone had a great holiday season.
My oldest daughter's birthday is New Year's Eve so we'll probably go to dinner early evening so that she can have the rest of the night to be with her friends (she'll be 26). And............ because I'm still not feeling 100% I think I'll stay in with my DH, DD (youngest, if she doesn't go out) and the dogs.
-
Jenn, my oldest daughter just turned 26 on Dec. 17th! Happy Birthday to her!! My younger DD will be 24 in Feb. You have come through chemo and now you will start the rads dance everyday. It gets old fast, but you will get through it too. I went on my lunch hour each day and saw most of the same women each time, although some finish before you and then you meet new ones. Keep resting up and you are on the road to healing from chemo. Another notch under your belt!! hugs
-
Neither one of you look old enough to have 26 year old daughters if those are pics of you in your avatars!!
Happy New Year everyone! I hope this next year is much better for all of us!!!
-
Dear Mary, you took the words right out of my mouth! I wish I'd look as hot as Kari or Jenn or you when my kids are 26.
Happy New Year to all.
-
Awww gee, thanks girls! The joys of having kids young, haha!
Happy New Year cuties!! Onty, you finish chemo this week right? YEAH!!!!!!! Let the healing games begin.
