hi all, i was just wondering is there many other women out there driving themselves mad like i am!! i am 38 years old and had a partial right mastectomy followed by 6 months of chemo and i have just finished 6 weeks of rads, i am estregen + so have started tamoxifen, but i am driving myself mad with worry about my other breast!! I wont even touch it anymore in case i find a lump there too, i keep imagining funny sensations in it and keep asking my poor husband to feel in in case there is a lump, very romantic!! i had a mammogram when i first found the lump and also a ultrasound so i suppose they must have checked to make sure the other breast was ok but i cant seem to stop worrying, i am driving myself and everyone around me crazy, im just hopeing it is normal to be anxious like this, tamoxifen also giving me terrible muscle and joint pain, so this isnt helping my overall well being, no mood swings though, my husband would disagree i bet!! luv to you all out there and happy easter. leonie in dublin

This is all totally normal and the only thing that will help is time. I had my mast in February of 2004 and still have mixed feelings about keeping the one breast. If I'd gotten rid of it, I'd have less chance of recurrence; however I'd have no "normal" girlie parts left. Quite a dillema and everyone makes their peace with the decisions in a different way. You'll be OK, and here's a hug and prayer for you.

Hi, leonie. I've experienced the same anxiety as you and also have a phobia about touching my breasts. I think it's completely normal and completely understandable.
You've started this thread in the "humor" part of the board...you might get more responses if you post this in either the hormone therapy forum or perhaps the "moving on" forum. I've been on Arimidex since December 2006, but so far have not had any side effects from it. But I do know you are not alone...many women here struggle with Tamoxifen, Arimidex, etc.
Happy Easter to you from the Washington, D.C. area!

thank you both for your replies, your very kind, my husband pointed out to me that i had posted it in the wrong section, im a bit of a computer illiterate!! im trying real hard to stop freting about the other boob, my sister who is a cancer nurse keeps reassuring me that they wouldnt have missed anything, i keep saying this to myself when i get panicky. i know its important to stay positive but us lot here in ireland are a bit of a negative bunch, but ill try, hope you both doing well, thanks again for taking the time to reply to me, luv and hugs and prayers to you too, leonie
