those were the days, huh lpojoga? Gathering in eggs from the hen house, milking the cow, picking fresh tomatoes, butterbeans, etc. I miss those days. Of course, I'm thankful it's much easier now..........don't get me worng
True - I have climed many trees as a kid....built tree houses, and even had a tree house with one bedroom/kitchen in a TREE.. I had lots of boy cousins and one brother, so had to do that kind of stuff if I was going to play. But it was a blast!!!
The next person usually tries to get around 8 hours of sleep at night
-
true, to climbing trees as a child, you know, I have 100's of trees on our property and have the grandkids 11 and 6 nearly every weekend, they have never even asked or thought to climb a tree. I think everything is just too electronic now days
I too picked the eggs out of the chicken house for my mom. It is so much easier to just go to the store now. We use to butcher our own hogs and cows and couldn't do it for nothing now. I can remember the yard being a bloody mess.

-
True but didnt go far scared of heights

freshly picked fruit was the best! it sure was fun to do those things as a kid. but i bet it wasn't much fun for the grownups, who had to keep everything in check, clean the yard and henhouse, take care of the trees and garden, besides their daytime jobs.
my grandparents had planted a tree for each of us grandkids, besides the many other trees they had in the yard, so we could all claim ownership on some sort of fruit (mine was a cherry tree, and i was trading my cherries for whatever my brother and cousins had to offer). ok, i stop :-)
