    HI,

Can anyone tell me if bio-identical hormones are safe for ER PR neg breast cancer survivors?  I will be having a prophylactic mastectomy soon.  Have had BC 16 years ago with mastectomy.

    Thanks,

    Vicki

    Hi Vicki,

I know it's controversial, but my oncologist allows me to use a low dose estrogen patch (vivelle dot), which happens to be bioidentical.  Several of the estrogens that you can get without going to a compounding pharmacy are bioidentical such as Vivelle, Climara, Estraderm, Estrace.  I also use compounded natural testosterone cream.  I had BC 17 years ago and was ER/PR negative.  I've been on this combination of HRT since 1999.  It was a quality of life decision for me. -- Amy

    Hi and Thank YOU!

I would love to know more about your current experience!  I am very much like Vicki in diagnosis and am interested in knowing what my options are concerning low dose bioidentical hormones.

Quality of life is important and needs to be considered!

    Thank you for sharing!

    All the Best!

My onc let me use a compunded estriol vaginal cream, and I'm hormone +. It was a messy hassle, so now I'm using FemRing.

As far as the more systemic hormones, bioidentical or not, he wouldn't budge on that.

Others will. It is a quality of life issue, for sure.

    Anne
