    Hi all,

This may have already been covered, but I just finished up radiation, so just now getting around to doing certain kinds of research.

I went to get some vitamins today, especially concerning calcium with D and fish oil. Well...I get home and on closer inspection realize BOTH of these supplements have SOY in them.

Do all brands have soy? I had no clue!

Also, do I need D and D3 with my calcium or are they the same?

Thanks in advance for your help.......

I found 2 D3 vitamins without soy, one from bluebonnet and the other from NOW.  I like the Now better because they use olive oil.

Yes it's D3 that your looking for.   The fish oil I use doesn't have soy, it's from coromega and instead of it being in pill form it's in packets.

    Thank you Rosemary and Roxy!

So it looks like D3 is a totally seperate thing, and I need it in addition to just D. It's so confusing trying to decide what supplements and vitamins to take.

    Lori,

I know it's a pain to find everything you want at first, but you're looking for D3 as cholecalciferol.  If they don't show it that way, you don't want it.   Just to add another onto your list, one Dr. was saying we should take vitamin C before we take calcium and magnesium to be sure there's enough acid in our stomach to break the calcium down to be absorbed.  It goes on and on but our bones are worth all the trouble.

Thanks again! I never would have known that. And yes, our bones are important...I sure don't need to get any shorter. lol

    Guys,

Why is soy bad in supplements?

Well, people who have ER positive tumors should avoid soy because it is an estrogen mimicking food, and we are obviously trying to avoid estrogen in our body.  However, there is soy in some form in so much of the food we buy, and the experts from this site say that if it's low on the ingredients list, we shouldn't worry about it too much (that's paraphrasing of course). They say to avoid foods that are mainly soy...tofu, soy milk etc....

Hope I explained this well enough?
