Hi there.  I am going in for surgery on the 26th.  1.2 cm, no node detection on MRI and this morning I wake up with a bump under my arm that is red and painful.  About half the size of a pea.  then I found another even smaller and also painful.  I have been feeling around for a number of days, could I have been aggravating something?  What the heck could they be.  The bump or lump is close to the surface and red and hurts to the touch.  I haven't changed deodorant or done anything different.  thanks for any help!!

Needtotalk. Is it possible you have razor burn? Sounds like a superficial irritation of the skin. It is understandable that you may be excessively "examining" that area which could cause some local inflammation. I would keep the area clean and dry, try not to palpate overly much, and possibly apply a triple antibiotic type ointment if you see any breaks in the skin. I would not worry unless the area becomes much more tender, swollen or starts draining. If it really is bothering you, leave a message with your physicians call service.

Thanks for your reply, LindaLou.  It almost feels like a small boil, although I can't really see a head on it.  There is another one (really, really small) about 1 inch below it.  Also very tender.  They are on the ILC side, but far away from the breast, near the top of the armpit, but still where armpit nodes would be.  Has anyone else ever heard of this in relation to breast cancer.  I'm not freaked, but certainly nervous (as I have been anyway, for the past month).  thanks!!!!

Sounds like an infection, to me. Get it checked out ASAP. You may need an antibiotic.
