Barbara Delinsky's Uplift is a remarkable collection of women's stories.  Her premises of believing if we don't share, we don't know we can survive and going to the sisterhood for help and solace have been wonderful resources to me... both finding the sisterhood of survivors in my work, church, and son's school and sharing my story all around.

Also, Peggy Hubbardston's Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster was widely recommended to me by my PCP team as well as various friends.  Though I finally got a copy only 4 days before surgery, the accompanying meditation tape is superb and all of it is good focus while in the post-surgery healing process.

    Thanks for the recs.

I haven't read the Peggy Hubbardston book, but the center I went to offers free pre-surgery relaxation classes based on her book, and provided a free copy of the CD -- it really helped a lot,

I also read the Barbara Delinsky's book and found it very helpful getting ready for my surgery and subsquent treatments.
