OMG!! I am LMOA at the comments about my dog. HA! I thought he looked cute in the pic, but on 2nd glance, I guess he is a little possessed looking. I showed my husband the avatar and he said he looks like those eyes in the window of the Amityville Horror.
Beth - I definitely think you could pull the boots off. Oh shoot. Tina. will look at your link and come back.
-
Going to get a pen and paper to look at this purse, Tina. I keep forgetting the style number by the time I navigate my way to handbags. be back
-
Very intriguing website ---I finally found the elusive pewter purse. Very cute! I wish you could zoom in on it.
-
Raye, it's easier if you copy the style # (highlight and right click/copy), then click on the link to Brighton. Next is to evade the pink promo on their home page for October by clicking on Products in the top nav. Then, when you get the products page, paste the style number in the search box. When you get the bag, you can click on it for a bigger version, although it is none too big, admittedly.
Even after your telling me that is your dog, I cannot see him! Must be a Rorsach (sp?) test thing. Okay, the white things are his eyes but I cannot make out anything else. I guess I am hopeless.
-
You are certifiable.
We have a chocolate Lab in a camper seen as an alien in a spaceship. I bet you a nice long torso, but shorter legs, beautiful blue eyes and a yearning for a pewter purse. And a wicked sense of humor.
I bought in the In Style issue with Meg Ryan on the cover yesterday. Meg looks just beautiful in all of the pics. Also, delightful items in there - and color! I love the gray and purple look (Beth, you mentioned your office wardrobe includes these colors!! NICE). I think I might hit TJ today and see what I can find, although the place was probably cleaned out this weekend. Looking for some dark purple cool shoes and purse.
-
You know, I think my problem (one of them) is that my display is so high resolution and things show up much smaller than at lower res, so your doggie is about 3/4" high. I just solved the problem by printing out the picture and, viola!, I can now see him and his charming face. The whole brown muzzle does not show up on my display but I see the top part of the heaf and the body as only dark shadow. Alien shadow. Do do do do, do do do do. Was that Outer Limits or what show? I love labs.
I don't know why the girls in my knitting group thought Meg looked awful in The Women. I thought she looked nice, too.

Found great purple heels... I will find the link... only $35 from Alloy.
http://store.alloy.com/item.do?destination=basket&itemID=49348&categoryID=927
I just ordered them... love love love them, and here's another pair I ordered.
http://store.alloy.com/item.do?destination=basket&itemID=49021&categoryID=1772
-
ugh, I think the links don't work--
it's the crocodile heel in purple, and the flare heel in black patent leather with the zipper.
both pair for $32.50... talk about a steal.
-
OOO - I love both pairs.
Check this purse out. I LOVE IT - I will have to go see it at the store to make sure it is dark dark purple - looks a little lilacy to me. Probably looks yellow to Tina. LOL
-
No one likes a smart arse.
-
is that coach? Where is that bag from?
Tina I know you see purple. I just figured you'd think it was a sweater. tee hee hee
-
Or Dr. Smith from Lost in Space. LOVE YOU TINA.
That purse above is a Coach...so, I decided to go to TJMaxx - just got back. Bought a dark purple purse (below), short dark purple lightweight coat (below), purple sweater dress, and a Ralph Lauren dark gray wool skirt. Good buys. The had MK purple purse (not the same one you were looking at, Beth, but a cute one) for $179.00.
-
whooa, tryin on clothes gave me a beehive...that's not your screen, Tina.
-
Love the survivor boa in the backround....
great purchases. I would probably become addicted to a TJMaxx, I just don't know where they are near here...
that's probably a good thing.
-
Okay, I am miffed. I never find good buys. I have a TJM nearby but it's lousy. They send all the crap to central MA. Marshall's too. We are too stupid to know what's good. Grrrrrr.
Raye, all the purple is surple. Super, that is. I like it. You're lookin' cute.
I have a haircut tomorrow. Will try to scout about for clothes.
-
Beth - don't you have a Bday this week? HAPPY BIRTHDAY Little One - you're catching up to me
. I saw a pic of you and Matt over the on the picture thread (it was posted in August, I guess I haven't been on that thread for awhile) - what a great shot, you both are adorable.
I am taking the purple short coat back. Turns out not so surple after all. Looks stupid on me and is itchy. Nice. Hence, I am deleting the picture of of said itchy coat.
-
You show THEM, Raye. Take your itchy coat and stuff it. (Walks away swinging purple pocketbook...................)
Well, I actually got to TJ's yesterday. They had more than I expected, but nothing for me.
Lots of handbags, nothing in the right color (pewter or silverish) that was the right size. I could take a nap in some of the bags they had there! The little ones were very trashy looking IMO. They did have some fuchsia bags! and purples and dark pinks but, alas, none with my name on them. Did not really look around too much at the other clothes because I was hungry and dreaming of a McChicken sandwich. Love that dollar menu.
I am still lusting after that Brighton bag but with the economy going through its gyrations I am feeling I don't need to spend around $250 for a pocketbook I won't wear often. Maybe I should just wear my nice D&B bucket-ish bag with my new stuff and call it a day. So boring, though. Black shoes, hose, bag, suit. Colored top. Must buy more colored tops. Does Target have decent tanks with built-in bras? Not the cami ones but with built up straps. I will be in town on Friday for a ps appt. and go to Target when I am there.
Birthday for Beth??? Well, that must make you 31 already! Let's put on our party hats. HAPPY BIRTHDAY lady. Much love in the airways from me to you.
-
Yes. 31 this Saturday, Raye I don't mind catching up to you in years, but what I would like would be to catch up to you in the numbers on the scale. I think I'd have to lose a whole person to get down to your size.
My sister makes custom handbags- I never really mentioned this before-- b/c they are mostly for weddings/proms etc... but here's a small example of her stuff
Tina- for tanks with built in bras the BEST ones are from NY & Co/Lerners. They have adjustable straps, and cups in the tank.... They usually have deals 3 for $20 or something like that-- it's been a while.
-
Cute bags! I love the Ellie Clutch. Nice spring bag. Every time I scroll down to see the latest post, there is the totally gorgeous Coach bag that I cannot afford starring me right in the face. Oh, how I love that bag!
Tina - forgot to ask - how did the haircut go? What color is your Dooney?
Beth, you look terrific just the way you are. You're one beautiful girl (well lady, almost 31 now arncha?). You're confident, comfortable in your own skin - you got it going on sister. But, as I always say, whatever makes you happy.
What would make me happy is that Coach bag up there. JK! - I just want to be happy: have a loving hubby, family and friends, which I am blessed with. Oh and I want to be healthy. This time, I digress...
-
Happy birthday Beth a couple of days early, my bd is the day after yours but I am nowhere near 31! (my son is 23!) and I am not telling my age!
My sister and I make a few handbags and wallets but mainly for friends and ourselves. I made a real cute one for Halloween with fun ghosts that match a vest I wear. I have trouble finding ones that I like so I find the fabric and make them myself.

Oh, god, just found this thread! Women after my own heart! I almost bought a pair of purple high heels last night. Alas, the left one was a tad too tight!
Here's something I constructed for my website blog during the first week of my rads; you'll notice it's a variation of my avatar, the file name of which is "the Well-Dressed Survivor." So, of course I had to post it here!!
Hugs, Kathi

I love the above and the avatar!!! Glad you found the thread.

Gotta love Alloy. I don't know how, but they magically wave a wand and for no charge your items are there in 48 hours.
The shoes came yesterday, and the purple crocs look FABULOUS up close... Just in time for me to pack them for my getaway to Baltimore (leaving in 2 hours). AND, I'm leaving my computer at home (mental health break) so I hope I don't miss too much this weekend.
Thanks for the birthday wishes. I woke up this morning on the wrong side of the bed, and I'm not having the best of days, so I'm truly hoping it gets better from here.
love u guys.
xoxo

Beth - Have a totally fabulous time this weekend.
Happy Birthday a day early!!
-
Kathi, welcome! I love your pic above (you are one very talented lady) but the glowing boob is truly unnerving! LOL Great work! Are you still in rads or finished?
Beth, have a wonderful time in Balt. Shop til you drop. The waterfront is great there.
Did a Target's run this morning but they had no tank camis. Rats. I did pick up a cute pair of jammie bottoms and some grey capri leggings for around the house. They had some really nice looking dresses and things from some Asian name designer, cannot remember what, but really, really nice. I'll have to go back when I have more time to shop.
Must be off now to service the damn car. Necessary evil. My "oil change required" light is on.
-
Land's End has a couple of lovely plum coats you may want to ck out online. They are a wool/cashmere blend and about $150. I like the swing one goes just below the hips.
-
Happy Birthday Beth!! I hope you have a terrific day and whatever you do, I know you will be lookin' good!!
Love,
Lexi

Help!
I am attending my really good friend's only daughter's wedding next weekend. It is being held at a golf club, dinner and dancing to follow the ceremony. But it's at 4:30 pm. I am traditional enough to follow "old" etiquette and that says a formal wedding does not occur before 6pm. However, I have discovered that the MotB and MotG will both be wearing long dresses. That makes for a muchmore formal wedding than I thought. Not that I, as a guest, would be expected to wear a long dress, but now I don't know what to wear! I cannot afford to buy a 'cocktail dress' for one occasion. I don't generally do well with trendy dresses and I spent two hours at Nordstrom Rack yesterday looking for something. The onlydress I liked was marked down from $289 to $129 - a real bargain I suppose, but if I were to spend that amount on something to wear, it would really impact my ability to write them a decent check (I already got them something from their registry). As you may recall I wasn't able to work due to Taxotere neuropathy for over a year, and am only now working a part-time temp. position - thus my antipathy toward an expensive dress I'll wear once. When I asked my friend for guidance she just said "Oh Lisa, you always look lovely".
I had planned to wear a black silk tunic over a short-ish grey skirt, black heels and some "statement" gold jewelry. Bling from back when I was working.
I could wear the silk top over a longer (mid calf) stylized floral skirt, but I don't like that proportion as much (long over long). What do you guys think?

Lisa, dahling, I say wear what you want, what you look great in. One of my friends just went through a similar experience with a late afternoon wedding. She ended up wearing a just-above-the-knee dress with a great rhinestone necklace & earrings that she borrowed from moi, and everyone at the wedding told her how fab she looked! Every wedding I've been to in the last several years, women seem to wear whatever length they want, night or day, & it's all fine.
Happy Birthday to Beth & Sheila! Purple/plum seems to be very popular this season, which is fine by me because I love both shades. Beth, the purple crocs sound great! I am still sad those purple shoes I tried on the other night didn't fit. They were made of this kind of meshy, sparkly material, so they were purple with pink & gold hightlights! Yum! Iodine, that purple swing coat sounds just great. I'm going to have to check it out.
Thanks Raye & Tina for the welcome & the compliments! I admit the glowing boob scares me, too, but then I made it as an expression of my worst fears for radiation, so I guess I succeeded!! I did the 3-week protocol of rads & just finished this past Monday. I didn't have really any skin SE's to speak of till the last 4 treatments, although I was ex-HAUS-ted every day. Now that I'm 4-5 days post-rad, my skin is sort of worse, which they said to expect, but not horrible. Reddish & rashy, but only a bit itchy & weepy. The worst thing is this one spot under my armpit which burns like hell, but seems to be getting better.
For the sake of artistic accuracy, I'm going to have to revise my "Well-Dressed Survivor" now to show that the right boob has shrunk some more, has a rash & divets & a puckered scar! However, she will be wearing purple shoes next (which I've already drawn) & a smashing new hat! When I'm done with it, I'll post it.
Kathi
P.S. So, am I the only one who thought that the best thing about playing with Barbie when I was a kid was having shoes & handbags for her in every color of the rainbow??
-
Beth, just checked out your sister's bags. OMG, they're soooo cute! Kathi
