I have been TRYING to make whole grain bread in my 1.5 lb breadmaker with NO success.  My mom makes it all the time but she lives in a high altitude area and I can't seem to find the magic adjustment to make it turn out right.

So...I'm trolling for a great whole grain breadmaker recipe that will work even at regular altitudes in a small breadmaker. THANKS! Laughing

O.K. I guess no one has a good whole grain bread recipe.  I'll go back to playing with my Mom's and when I get it to bake right, I'll post for the rest of you.

I figure the only way to get a healthy bread without soy or other additives that I don't want is to get in the kitchen and make it myself.  Surprised

What is the recipe you are using now?  I used to use a bread machine but the recipes I'm using now are just as easy and don't call for one. I haven't had to buy bread for over a year.

Is your recipe completely whole grain flour or just a proportion?

Here is my Moms recipe which she makes in a 2lb breadmaker at a high altitude.  It turns out GREAT for her.

3 level cups Whole Wheat Flour

    3 T of Wheat Germ

    3 T of Oat Bran

    3 T of Wheat Bran

    1 T of Sugar

    1 T of Xyitol

3 T of cold press extra virgin olive oil

    2 eggs

    1 1/2 t. of dry yeast

    1 t. of sea salt

    1 3/4 cups water

Dump the ingredients in the breadmaker.  Cook on whole wheat cycle.  Mom turns off her machine 15 minutes early for a softer crust.  Mom also adds 3 T of flaxseed but I removed it for the obvious reason.  Again, if I ever get the recipe to cooperate for me in a 1.5 lb maker, I'll post the changes. Good luck!
