How many of you actually had a palpable lump?

Hi.  Not fully diagnosed yet but so far they think it's ILC.  I had a mammo.  I had asked the tech to make sure they check the L breast good because I have a newer inverted nipple and dimpling.  Also a harder area like a swelling.  But it came back benign.  Then I went to a dermatologist with a growth on my thigh and that was diagnosed as malignant carcinoma.  So I go to an Oncologist and he tells me yes, it's from the breast.  On further discussion and symptoms he thinks it's ILC, but I'm waiting for the PET scan.

So my breast would have never been diagnosed without that lump on my thigh.  And that growth is flat and thick and has a round area in the middle and starting to make more of a star shape

Fairly new here. I was able to feel a lump but it was days prior to my cycle. I waited til a week after my cycle stopped and it hadn't changed, still same place, about same size (quarter round). The last self exam I distinctly remember was February and everything was just fine. It seemed like it just appeared. Went to primary care, she sent me for diagnostic imaging, 3d mammo and ultrasound. From there to breast surgeon and multiple biopsies and other ultrasounds and MRI w contrast, had unliat MX on left 8/7 w several sentinal nodes removed and tissue expander (TE) placement. Prelim path back changed diagnosis from IDC to ILC, more lymph involvement than initially thought. Had PET/CT on Monday and just got back from CT of head/neck, chest abdom and pelvis. We'll see what happens. Am calling for a follow up appointment w breast surgeon and medical onco later this week.

I could feel a hardened area for sure. I was tipped off by an inverting nipple and pretty big indent.

I am six months out from a mastectomy of my right breast with nipple sparing and immediate reconstruction.  That happened in February 23, 2018. I was diagnosed in December of 2017 that it was ILC so I was put on Letrozole and waited a few months for the lump to shrink in size.  So Yes, I did have a lump.  Lots going on in that right breast.  Also in February I noticed a spot on my face.  Thought it might just be a sun spot but it kept getting more noticeable.  I went to the dermatologist and he said you need to get that off by a plastic surgeon.  It is very suspicious looking and could be melanoma.  I asked him could that be from the breast cancer spreading and he said NO completely different.  Now after hearing your story I am wondering if this is from the ILC?   I am having it removed on September 24, 2018 (first available date plastic surgeon had).  I am a nervous wreck.

Mine felt kinda like a lump, but not 100% like a lump. To me it was more like a thickened, hard area on the breast. I am still in shock over how the doctors could NOT feel that, it was easily feelable. My guess is probably because of my young age they thought it was just dense breast tissue, argh. Both of my breasts had that feeling to it, but it was much worse in the right breast. My "lump" was also painful as well. Mine was more of a dull ache though that happened every now and again. I sometimes would get bee like stings in the breasts and nipples, but it wasn't an all the time occurrence. Both of my nipples changed. I never got the inverted nipple, but I had the aroleas change. They began to get puffy and I noticed under the both of them that there was indentation/dimpling. The indentation was more prominent in the left breast. My left breast was always smaller than my right breast, but I began to notice that my breast was smaller than usual. My right breast was the complete opposite and actually grew larger! The changes were obviously noticeable since I am smaller chested. I was a 32C

I called my oncologist to ask her about the mark on my face which they think could possibly be a melanoma.  The dermatologist said he did not think this could be from the breast cancer but I neglected to tell him I had ILC.   The oncologist said it is rare but it is possible.   Now I am even more nervous.   She said we will know more when they get the biopsy.  It seems strange that I was diagnosed in December 2017, immediately put on Letrozole for a few months , had surgery on February 23, 2018 and the last week of February this black mark appears on my face.   Anyone else had something like this happen?

I am 40 years old and felt the lump myself one day. It seemed to have appeared overnight. Hard and not tender to the touch at all. As the weeks have gone by, my nipple has retracted. I have surgery next week and am looking forward to being cancer free soon.

I didn’t have a lump. My skin felt “wrong” & was red. It took over 6 months before they diagnosed me & that only happened because I was persistent with them. After the 1st cycle of chemo a 3cm lump appeared under my arm & 2 masses became obvious in my breast (12cm & 9cm). I completed my final chemo last week & the 2 large masses have gone! And the lump under my arm is now below 1cm. Onc says I’ve had a “complete response to chemo”. Now waiting for my mastectomy date. I transferred my treatment from U.K. to Spain after chemo cycle 5. My Spanish onc has looked at my scans etc from U.K. & can’t understand why I wasn’t diagnosed months earlier. I’m very lucky it doesn’t seem to have metastasised. I have loads of confidence in the Spanish team to look after & cure me - more do than the U.K.

Well I had the mark on my face removed by a plastic surgeon.   Turns out it was a melanoma.  She had to go very deep and it looks like I have a crescent moon scar.  Hopefully this will fade in time.  I still can't get over the fact I was diagnosed with ILC and had a mastectomy in February, 2018 and in February this mark appears on my face.  I can't help thinking it has to do with the ILC.

No lump. I actually had a breast exam with my GP the day before my mammogram. Obviously he felt nothing. I’m 37 and was only being sent for a mammogram because I requested it after my sister was diagnosed with stage 4 in June. Her Genetic Counselor suggested I get a mammogram just encase along with our other sister.

3 months exactly from the date my sister was diagnosed, I was diagnosed.

I often feel for it and think I may feel it but really not sure.
