Ok there is wayyy to much information out there, I am aware of the :

    www.cosmeticdatabase.com

However what are the ingredients that I should avoid in all cosmetics, I have heard parabens.. is it the category of chemicals or would the ingredients actually say 'parabens'

Also remember hearing something about Tea tree Oil ? That is bad too ? What other things should we be avoiding in lotions, creams, basically anything we put on our skins ?

This site lists the "dirty dozen chemicals" and they also sell products free of these chemicals.

Trigeek, I can't keep up with it all, so I use everything from Brt's Bees.Which is a very clean company.Their cosmetics are never on the dirty dozen lists.

They have a line of moisturizers called Radiance. They will make you...look radient!

I do not like sunblocs in my cosmetics, so us the Radience Night Cream.I use Bert's Bees Eye cream too.

    AND chapped skin lotion.

    It's all good.

But do pick up a jar of Radience Night Cream and try it!

Hey snowy yes I know I read through that thread and LOVE IT . but the information is scattered thought I would start a new thread which only has harmful ingredients in cosmetics/body care products.

trigeek....Yes, we should avoid parabens and you'll find the three main offenders listed among the ingredients on most major moisturizers and boby lotions. The only one that comes to mind is methylparaben, but the other two end with "paraben" too. We're also supposed to avoid phlalates, but I've yet to find a comprehensive list of these chemicals. As for tea tree oil, there has been recent conjecture that it can have an estrogenic effect on the body or at least on the bodies of young boys who fater exposure, began to develop breasts. I use tea tree oil shampoo and conditioner and don't want to give the stuff up, but I'd rather be alive with bad hair than dead with a gorgeous mane!

Like Joan, I use Burt's Bees Radiance (night) cream. I also use Avalon Organics bath gels, Dove age-afirming night cream (thick and creamy as hell!) and any body lotion that doesn't have parabens and smells yummy!
