My daughter was diagnosed with IDC in November of 2004 recieved treatment and had a mascotomy, in September of 2007 she was diagnosed with IBC is going through treatment again has had the macotomy on the other breast...I has been a very difficult time for her she has not been able to work.  She has a 13 year old daughter who is having a tough time aswell.  I was wondering if anyone was aware of a support group for children that I could get my granddaughter involved.  I would also like to get my daughter in a support group aswell..I was finally able to get her to agree to see a therapist..She did go once and not sure if she will go back. Thanks for any help you can give me..

Gilda's Clubs have support groups for children whose parents have cancer.

Your daughter might want to check out the Young Survival Coalition -- it is a group for women under 40 with breast cancer -- I don't know your daughter's age, but I think she might find links at Young Survival for programs for mothers (and children your granddaughter's age): http://www.youngsurvival.org/

Also, the Young Survival resource guide mentions a site for kids whose parents have cancer:

Hi, Sedgwick,

Have you checked with the local hospitals? My hospital has several breast cancer support groups that meet weekly, and some groups also include family members. You don't have to be a patient at that particular hospital to participate either.
