Healthy Grocery Stores

Where do you shop?  We have a Whole Foods that I venture off to about once a month for my organic chicken and a wide selection of organic veggies.  But soon, I won't have too .. Our local Henry's is carrying more and more organic meats and prices are getting better. Factor in gas and time and it will be the same??

I love Trader Joe's ... lots of organic meals pre-made. Frozen organic fruits.  Oh and 2 Buck Chuck (no it's not organic!)

My local Ralph's and Von's are both carrying a small selection of fruits but Whole Foods still has the best selection of everything!

I have to drive 60 miles to get to Whole Foods.  What a pain.  At least I get to visit my son every time I go!

We have HEB Central Markets here that carry some organic stuff but  I end up going to a little store "Health Arena" that stocks stuff that HEB doesn't.  Don't even want to THINK about the gas I spend going to 3 different cities to get groceries.  Surprised

Me too, I have to go to 3 different stores to find all the organic food stuffs.  It's really a pain.  I wish the local markets would see the lines of cars waiting for a parking spot by Whole foods or Traders, and get the idea that we want to buy organic at reasonable prices.

HEB has the most in organic where I live and it's really fresh.  At least one company is seeing the light.

I live in Santa Cruz County. We have loads of healthy food markets. We have The New Leaf, Scotts Valley Market, Staff of Life & Shoppers Corner. In addition, Nob Hill chain stores (Raley) carry a rather large selection of organic &/or natural foods. I can even make chicken soup with all organic ingredients bought at Nob Hill.

Nob Hill also bakes their own bread without a lot of additives. Delicious!

From May to Nov. 1st there is a farmers' market in Felton. All year round there are farmers' markets in several nearby towns, as well as at the local community college. We even have a fisherman who brings to the market whatever he caught that morning. Also available is organic pasta & sauces, desserts, and whatever vegetables and fruits are in season. I've learned to buy what's in season and cook around that.

Many of our local restaurants pick up their produce at the farmers' market to serve that evening.

We are so very lucky here on the central coast. Supposedly we are getting a Whole Foods store, but the community is fighting it. Santa Cruz (city) has a large population that is anti-box stores. We'll see if WF can convince the public. I visited the one in Cupertino and thought it was very expensive, particularly their deli items.
