I need to know if any of you have had a reaction to the herceptin. My onc said he doesn't think it is from the herceptin. Each time I have herceptin once every three weeks until May 08 the next three/four days my breast I had lumpectomy on swells almost a whole cup size, gets hot and I feel tingling. It has happened each time and goes away in a few days, this time I went in to show the onc. what it looks like and he gave me an antibiotic!! I called my surgeon and she ordered a mammogram.
1.7cm ER/PR+ her+ nod neg, 4 DD A/C 12 Taxol/Herceptin 37 Rads.
Thanks for any help

Debi,
I didn't have breast swelling (at least I didn't notice) but my lower legs and feet would definitely swell. And it didn't get better with time. Immediately after my last infusion (end of a year) both feet looked like balloons. Doctors said it wasn't herceptin but six weeks later my feet were normal again and have stayed that way. It probably makes sense to get mammogram, but I think it may be herceptin since it goes away shortly after. Good luck.

Debi,
I have had Herceptin for over 4 years with no ill effects at all. Of course, both of my boobs are gone, so they couldn't swell if they wanted to.
I would definitely have a full work-up to ascertain the reason.

I didnt have breast swelling with Herceptin but had flu like symptoms and cardiac damage. From the Taxol I have neuropathy that doesnt seem to be going away. I finished the Herceptin last month and think I am getting my strength back finally.

Yes, I had some breast swelling with Herceptin/chemo infusions. The doctors took a fluid sample from the tumor cavity to check for infection. It was clear. The swelling lessened when chemo ended and I had only Herceptin. My se are the aches and tireds and now after 12 infusions of Herceptin, a decrease in heart function.
