burning feeling in breast

I had my ductal excision in Dec. and it is healing OK but I get this burning,like deep inside the nipple area....has anyone else experienced this?

My inital 'suspicious calcifications' were in my mid-breast. After my excision, I had all sorts of weird sensations in both breasts (even the one that has never had any procedures.) I later found out the surgeon went all over my breast. I had a breast biopsy right under the nipple a year ago (scar tissue). Sensations ranging from 'zingy' sensations to burning.

was it also hard around your nipple and lumpy? and my excision has not healed completely yet...I still have a scab and it is black and want seem to fall off and my nipple area seems to sink in now. 

I don't mean to be so personal but I was just wandering if this was normal since I don't see my surgeon again till March.

I had a LOT of swelling and bruising. I didn't have scabs, but I didn't take off the inner dressing until I saw the surgeon for a postop visit like a month or two later.



When I had my excision, I just thought they removed the small area of suspicious calcifications (roughly at the center of my breast). I later found out after a subsequent biopsy, that they likely went all over my breast, including just under the nipple.



I have been black and blue (and bronze and green) on both my 2 stereotactic biopsies and on my excision. (On my 2nd stereotactic they had to compress me for 2 hours to get the bleeding down to the 'oozy' stage.) After my excision, there was a BIG area of lumpiness and hardness - so much so that I made an appointment with the gyn NP about how to do a breast exam at month 3 post excision. The areas of hardness resolved after about 9-12 months. But at month 3, my nipple was changing direction, and I could see changes in my breast contour when I lifted my arms in the bathroom with the light shining from above.This prompted an ultrasound, which was labeled as scar tissue. I had a 6mo mammo and ultrasound, and a 12 mo mammo and ultrasound, which was when the rad opined they 'may have mislabeled' the 3 month ultrasound as scar tissue, which triggered a biopsy. I also had a biopsy for more calcs a week later. These came back as scar tissue and ductal hyperplasia (not atypical), respectively.



I would check out with your doc any increase in swelling or tenderness, or ** if you have changes in contour or nipple direction**. Its probably from healing, but I'd want my surgeon to make that decision. Could the black scab be from dry blood?

Thanks leaf...I will check with my surgeon just to be on safe side.

The scab is where she cut and right in the incision line and hard...part of if fell off in the shower but one smallpeice seems to want to stay, it has almost been two months since my surgery....I didn't know if this was normal healing and I just need to be patient .

My nipple seems to be going in on one side...like some one put a indent on one side of my nipple...it is on the side where the incision is at.

I will talk to my doc about it...just didn't want to call and make an appointment for something that was maybe normal.

When I made my appointment with the NP at 3 months (for the subtle change in nipple direction), I was taken seriously. The gyn NP had never seen a patient with LCIS, but I got no grief from anyone about getting it checked out. I also had a slight dent in that area for a year or so, but that largely filled in by 1-2 years.



I think its a good idea to get it checked out, though its probably just healing.

leaf, wanted to let you know that I called my doctor and spoke to her personally and she said that everything I described to her is normal, that is has only been a month and if I notice oozing or bleeding or hot feeling then I need to come in....she was very nice and seemed really concerned about me and that made me feel more comfortable. 

 She said that things will start to look more normal after some time...she said what you had said that they took out a piece of tissue about the size of a thumb so that is why it looks like a indent.

I am glad I called her and thanks for the advice....I feel much better and you were right it is just healing.
