Is anyone else an atheist with BC besides me?

The Solstice is just around the corner. https://www.vox.com/2016/12/20/14027402/winter-solstice-2017

I'm in the 6.5 to 7. Explains why I used to go to work in the dark and come home in the dark. Season of the mole, I called it.

Listen to the video for some clear explanations on the new tax bill. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/20/us/politics/tax-bill-republicans.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=a-lede-package-region®ion=top-news&WT.nav=top-news

One native tradition is to stay up all night telling stories until the sun rises. I couldn't stay awake that long any more. Happy Solstice everyone.

Reading these will keep you busy for the rest of the week. Fun stuff.

Hi again. I have been dealing with two broken ankles and life in a wheelchair as I couldn't put any weight on my feet and had casts. It happened back in New Hampshire and I had surgery on my right ankle .I was in rehab in Vermont. After a month they let me fly home to San Diego if I continued the anticlot shots and had 3 seats across to keep my feet up. So 3 more months of non weight bearing. Then I started PT and now after 6 months I am vertical and hobbling along. Joined a gym so I can walk in the pool. I was so happy to see the days begin to get longer. Up and at em.

Look at these shoes. My husband got high tops after he broke his ankle bone and it wouldn't heal. The high top supports the ankle and can be tightened to give even more support. https://www.hibbett.com/nike-lebron-soldier-11-red-preschool-boys-shoe/31587587.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiAnOzSBRDGARIsAL-mUB11F77eznprgjdBYUAvH8mwC9lwG2fL99N9h6ToJ2X1Ez5GlmsP1nAaAoloEALw_wcB
There are other high tops in different brands. Sorry you have gone through such a tough time. {{Hug}}

wonder if they make them for women. I have to use orthotics for support. Little by little 🚶♀️thanks for the suggestion ❤

Look for women's high top basketball shoes. Here are just some. https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/f/womens-basketball-shoes?camp=SEM:DSG_50779_ecom_nonbrand_406&gclid=Cj0KCQiAv_HSBRCkARIsAGaSsrBnI_fqqh-mYnnyyyY2Q4j7IQozjg-Q5G5pKJsiAUxhfhK95gh_5AoaAh8WEALw_wcB#bazaarRating:&facet:&productBeginIndex:0&orderBy:5&pageView:grid&minPrice:&maxPrice:&pageSize:&facetCategoryId:&fPrevCatId:&
The key is to get a style that will support the ankle bone as much as possible. Red would be a good color for you.

I never say the name of where I live because I'm paranoid about someone I know stumbling onto my posts, but if I tell you we survived a "nuclear apocalypse" on Saturday you will get it. I can now confirm with absolute certainty that this atheist will not find god in the end. It never occurred to me to say a prayer, but I did take the time to curse a certain big orange glob of goo before I kissed my a$$ goodbye.
-
What a horrible scare! I bet there will be some positive changes come out of it.
-
Thanks. No I don't think it will ever happen again. I was surprised how calm I was amidst all the pandemonium but I credit the fact that there was no last desperate attempt to get the attention of the great rescuer in the sky. I knew I could die, but I also knew there was nothing I could do about it except let it happen. I think people expect atheists to have a harder time of it in the end with no external force to bring them comfort. I came out of it feeling fortunate to have lived through the trial run that proves them wrong.
-
Lisa, I had to wear an ankle brace that wrapped around much like the sneaker. Not as pretty though. Upside was that a pair of boots that had never been comfortable fit better with the brace because it kept my foot pushed back in the shoe. Now I need to get one for the other foot so they're both comfortable.
-
Wren, I am trying out various braces. Thanks..
-
solfeo...just goes to show...sorry you had to experience the alert..how awful..
I know when I was growing up we had a bomb shelter build underground behind our house. It was great for teen agers so Mom and Dad didn't hear our noise ( or know what we were doing) Good thing we were good kids..
-
Might be a good thing Cheeto didn’t apparently know about it. So unstable he’d press the button. Yeah, I know that type comment should be on a different thread. Sorry, not sorry.
-
Well, if the mods do see this, I think they should consider that we heathens are already sufficiently sequestered on this thread. The same people who would be offended by these remarks won't be hanging around here in the first place unless they are deliberately looking for trouble.
-
true, never thought of that😎
-
OK ladies - I always read but have never posted. Just wanted to let you know I'm hanging.
Lisa - I am sorry about your ankle. We had back yard bomb shelters in No. Cal too. When/if I ever get to San Diego, I hope to meet you. It's on my bucket list.
-
MinusTwo, Welcome. Keep posting.

When many of the older Brits lived through WWII, a bit of a false nuclear attack hardly registers. I believe the unofficial motto of the UK is "keep calm and carry on".

Here is an interesting interactive map of religious belief in America. Click on your state to see how many atheists there are. http://www.pewforum.org/religious-landscape-study/
-
I can see that I fit right in here. Interesting bunch of questions to ask.
-
That was a very interesting link, ananda. Thanks for sharing that.

Click on the 2014 Landscape Study. It shows comparisons to the 2007 study and discusses the changes. The Pew Lanscape Studies are the gold standard in polling. Some compare them to the accuracy of the Census.
