Hello all, new to the site.  Good place to be!

Has anyone else considered oophor as an adjuvant therapy instead of chemo?

newly diag'd 11/2/07 with idc .7cm, er + (er 16%, pr 56%), her2 -, no nodes, mod-diff...

am not a fan of chemo, or tamo...

discussed this with my onco who seemed to support the treatment program of ooph, rad and AI's

i also wonder if anyone can tell me what the % of hormone levels correlates to???

The percent refers to the number of tumor cells that tested positive for the estrogen or progesterone receptor.  The higher the % of receptors the more helpful an estrogen blocker like tamoxifen or on of the AIs will be.  There is some research that indicates that the higher the ER/PR % is the less likely chemo will be helpful.

I am her2/neu +++, ER+/PR+, orig diagnosis in Jan 03.  Bone mets diagnosed Fall of 04.  My hormone receptor percentages were both in the high 90's.  I had an oophorectomy in the Fall of 2005, but after I had progressed in my bone mets.  I had been on zoladex which stopped my periods prior to that, but wanted the oophorectomy since I was experiencing some progression as shown by PET/CT scans.  I wanted the oophorectomy so that I knew there was no chance of estrogen coming from my ovaries.  I have also heard of many women have the oophorectomy for just the reasons you stated.

I have done chemo, radiation, and have had breaks from it when my mets responded well.  I am currently NED, still on xeloda/tykerb, zometa, and aromasin.  I also incorporate a CAM regimen along with traditional treatment.
