Wellbutrin..

Can anyone here enlighten me on this
med? Yes, I can read it on the web
but would like some personal input .. Thanks
A pal of mine is taking this
and he seems almost worse?
for depression
has counselling, but
also takes sleeping pills
and I have to wonder..
I am not the doctor, so
asking any here who have taken it
or whose hubby might have taken it
At times, this person seems v. agitated
Needless to say, I keep my distance
but am concerned
Having taken anti-deps myself in the past
realize they have s/e different for all
and I am one, who is really sensitive to meds
so try to avoid them
Thanks in advance
and feel free to PM
me..
TIA -
My brother was taking it as well and had the same things you describe.
-
I tried taking it about 10 yrs ago when I was trying to stop smoking.....Im not a moody person in anyway and that stuff scared the daylights out of me!!!.
Some days I felt fine then the next morning I would wake and not even like myself let alone another human!!!...
I think it reacts differently with each person as I know others who have taken it and had nothing like I experieced....
-
Maybe he needs a smoke.
Seriously though I took it early last year and didn't like how it made me feel. I switched to Lexapro for awhile and that was more tolerable.

I take Wellbutrin and have no problems..........it has cut down on the hot flashes
-
tks Gals..
I appreciate all your input
and, as has been said
We are all different
maybe takes time
I did take one medication
that made me agitated
but forget what it was
too long ago
Best to all
Best to all -
I took Wellbutrin about 5 years ago and loved it for about 2 months. I was taking it for anxiety and it really did not work for that but it had a fabulous side effect of giving me an overactive libido. It was like taking viagra (I imagine), then it just kind of slowly wore off and I was left with a lot of headaches.
-
hmmm....one of the side effects is a suppressed libido... one of the reasons why I stopped it. Interesting Newter... maybe we should do a study on you. Glad to hear you were only left with headaches when it wore off... Hehehe... Sorry. My bad.
-
I still take it and have no problems. I'm using it to decrease my desire for smoking.

Good Morning:
Thanks again for these additional
posts Gals
I imagine age, sex, (other meds taken)
other issues enter into the pictures
Did hear it can help libido,
but my own experience with
these anti deps has been: that we are all
different
That is why I like to talk to you..
not just read the label info. Great to
have the boards.
Best to you for the New Year!
Hugs -
I have not taken it but my dh took it for mild anxiety problems and to try and stop smoking. it helped the anxiety but did nothing to reduce the smoking. He changed jobs due to company shut down and the stress level dropped dramatically so he stopped taking it about 18 months ago. Still smokes.

All anti-depressents work differently for different people. There is often a trial and error process to find the right fit. Your friend's doctor should try a different medication, there are lots of options.
-
Tks again all
got lots of responses
from those who took it
Be well -
I took it a few years ago and it wired me up and made me nervous. I have a very high tolerance so I was surprised by the side effects. Although, it did decrease my appetite and I lost some weight.
-
Hey Twink,
No kidding. It really was almost out of control, luckily I had a sympathetic and understanding hubby to help me out. BTW, love the avatar.
-
My dad took it for about six months as part of an (unsuccessful) attempt to quit smoking. It didn't help him give up the habit and it made him VERY edgy and difficult. My mom finally told him to stop taking it. I think the part that helps "libido" is the wildcard with this particular anti-depressant.
hugs,

Howdy:))
More input
appreciated muchly
Donna:
Yes, some do give signs of
agitation
Hope your Dad is coming along
the picture I so enjoy of him
is with Sybil riding in that cart/wagon
have it etched in memory
Be well
Hugs to all -
A little late weighing in on this but I've been carrying a script in my pocketbook for Wellbutrin for the past two months.
Not for depression in my case but to help me focus. One of its prescribed uses is for Attention Deficit Disorder. I was on Strattera before and it worked very well. I had to discontinue it because of liver toxicity.
Wellbutrin also can have liver toxicity associated with it so I'm hesitant
to try it.
I can't say I'm surprised about the anxiety associated with Wellbutrin because I was on Sam-E which which like Wellbutrin also increases norepinephrine and dopamine----that was great on the beginning but, also sent my anxiety level through the roof--plus crazy insomnia.
Always a balancing act--------

Hi Saluki:
Never too late to hear
from you.. thanks for this
input as well
Interesting to be made aware
of the additional uses for this
medication
I do hope that something works for you
PS.. I have carried a few scripts round
in my purse at times as well
Best to you)
