Anyone developed rosacea after chemo

Months ago, about 10 after chemo; 5 months after rads, I started developing red blotch on my face; it has progressively gotten worse.  For the last few days it is getting bad and just keeps increasing.  The cream for it doesn't seem to be helping that much.

Just wondered if anyone else had had this happen.  Have you found something that sets it off such as certain foods, soaps, etc.  I would appreciate any help. This is so frustrating and try wearing makeup only irritates it more but I work with the public and they would not welcome me with all of these large red blotches.

    NANIAM,

I thought I was the only one!  I never had any color in my face until after chemo.  Then I always had rosey cheeks!  For a while it was nice, but then it got worse and I started to get the redness and little pimples on my nose.  I used a green make up stick from physicians formula to cover the redness and then put tinted moisturizer over it.  It has gotten better, and most of the time my nose is OK.  I can't figure out anything that makes a difference.  I also now have an issue with very dry skin which may be due in part to going instantly into menopause with my first chemo treatment.  I hope you find something that works!

I have rosecea but I didn't have chemo and I had it way before breast cancer.

Some think it's related to inflamation, others think it comes from flucuating hormones. Another theory has to do with bacteria. Eventually I saw the Derm and he put me on tetracycline, which cleared most of it up.

I use a mild facial soap and am very careful not to use detergents with scent in them.

Thanks Rose and OLB.  My nose started out as red - then I developed a few red blotches just on one side with the red nose; now it is on upper cheeks and lower inside cheeks of face.  Rose, I shouldn't be having fluctating hormones now - I just never had this problem until after I had BC treatment.

I can't find any evidence they think it is immune system related - but I've wondered so thought I would toss the question out.  I'm going to have to go back to the doctor as the cream I was given isn't really helping that much.

     Thanks for your thoughts.  Brenda

I don't have real rosacea, but I did have tiny little veins in my face burst during chemo...kind of like and old drunk would have!  It looks like I have a red cheeks and nose all the time.  You see it more when I am hot, but it is always there.  i guess I have gotten use to it because it really doesn't bug me, but people are always asking me if I am hot....

I have a random rash on my face and I've been told it's ezcema or rosacea or whatever..but my dr. gave me a clear gel to put on it..I think it's called metrogel.  It seemed to work although I had to stop because it's not safe for pregnancy.  Ask your derm about it :)
