As we know, ILC is almost always er and pr positive and her2 negative. If you have been dx'd with ILC and have been told it's her2 positive, you may want to get a second path report from a seperate lab based on the info in this article (or, regardless of your "status" you may still want to get a second one):

SherriG: Don't you mean that it's pretty rare for ILC to be her2neu+ (you wrote her2neu-)? I had mine tested by three labs, and all three found it her2neu+.

Ok.... we are getting all the negatives and positives mixed up here.

Here is information on ILC that I always went by.

In comparison with IDC, ILC was significantly more likely to occur in older patients, to be larger in size, to be estrogen and progesterone receptor positive, to have lower S-phase fraction, to be diploid, and to be HER-2, p53, and epidermal growth factor receptor negative. Invasive lobular cancers are almost always negative for HER2/neu.

It is not rare to be HER2 neg, but rare to be estrogen & progesterone negative with an ILC diagnosis.  It would be rare for an ILC to be Her2 positive.

Sorry for the confusion...(I edited my post). I goofed...I meant to say it's rare to be her2 POSITIVE instead of negative.

I can't help but wonder about the accuracy of all medical tests. It's scary to say the least!

When my first path report came back, my onc nearly hit the roof and demanded a re-test. Turns out that the lab initially said I was ER-, but after the second test, ER+.

How can they make such mistakes?!?!

That's a good question! 

I am quite shocked and dismayed by all this. It simply reinforces the fact that us girls must question everything pertaining to our medical issues...

I had my tests repeated twice...both times Her2+++
