Monitoring after bilat mast

I'm just curious about what type of monitoring (if any) is normally done after a bilateral mastectomy?  I had LCIS in one breast and opted for bilateral.  The results were benign for any lymph node involvment (yahoo!) and there was a small invasive portion in the LCIS side.  I feel the choice for mastectomy was warranted, but now I'm curious if there is further need for follow-up testing?  I will be seeing the oncologist and of course the surgical oncologist will be following up for months to come....but how do they check / follow up after mastectomies?  MRI's?  Ultrasound?  Blood tests?  I'm assuming no mammos?  I do have expanders and will be "filling up" in the weeks to come.

    Thanks for any input!!

I had a bilateral mastectomy with free TRAM reconstruction last December.  My surgical oncologist has recommended an MRI every year and an optional digital mammogram as well.  I just had both done at the end of November and everything looked good.

I had a bilat mast with implant recon 7 months ago. I will apparently be screened using either an ultrasound or mammogram on a yearly basis. Hope that helps :)
