Hi, I noticed alot of brac positive folks on here. Anyone with the hnpcc gene? I have this, it is very rare, working on my second round of cancer at age 41.(Breast this time.) Just interested in hearing from someone else with this.

    Hi Cinderella,

the HNPCC is a gene for the heredetary colon cancer.

My sister is tested for it, no history of breast cancer for her.

They assured her, that it is NOT connected to breast cancer. I read something that it might....so...who knows.

Do you have colon cancer as well?

Yes, I had it at age 27. Everyone agrees this breast cancer is related to the defective gene. Not well known, but related. Has our sister had colon ca?

Yes she just had chemo, rads and then surgery and a temporary colostomy bag for 12 weeks. She has no bc but my mom and I do. She is currently being tested for hnpcc but I don't know how long it takes for the results to get back.

I recently attended a conference where the speaker was a gynecologic oncologist and the topic was ovarian cancer risk.  He spent a great deal of time discussing hnpcc and the risk of endometrial and ovarian cancer.  In doing further research on my own I don't see any mention of breast cancer related to this syndrome but lots of info on ovarian cancer in this population.  Since ovarian cancer has such subtle symptoms it's a good idea for these folks to be carefully and regularly screened for it.

Hi, Calico. It took about three weeks to get my test results back. I also had the brac 1 and 2 test done, but the genetisist said it would be almost unheard of to have both mutations.
