Hi, all,

Down on the "Lymphedema" board (two boards down from this one), at the bottom of a thread called "reconstruction," we have a new gal who's just posted with questions about debridement, and you all are the experts on that. Here's her question:

"I had a mastectomy and immediate tram flap reconstruction on Nov. 12, 2007.  For the most part, I did well with my recovery following the operation. Now, approximately one month later, I have experienced an infection of the reconstructed breast.  I went in the hospital on Dec. 12, 2007 for a debridement (clean-up) procedure.  I am still in the hospital on December 19, as a matter of fact, I am typing this from my hospital bed.  I am going in for a second debridement on December 20.  Is there anyone that has experienced this type of complication?  If so, do you mind sharing your experience with me?

Thanks"

If you answer her here she's not going to find it, so could you please go down to the sixth post on the "reconstruction" thread and offer her the help and support only YOU can give.

Thanks!

Binney

I am going through a similar experience now! I am scheduled for dibriement in four days and am freaking out! I go in today to discuss with the doctor his plan of action. I am hoping for a one time procedure and that the wound on my left breast is closed and also looks some what normal afterwards. It certainly does not look like that right now. I would say the hole is the size of a golf ball right now, not a pretty sight. I am curious to know how yours went and if anyone else has a similar story and can ease my mind.
