Nolvadex as a preventive
Comments

I was diagnosed as being in the high risk category because I have a family history of oestrogen-induced breast cancer. This was 4 years ago and I was very scared, but my doctor recommended nolvadex as he said it could be very effective against oestrogen as an agent for BC.So,4 years on and there's not a trace.I know that's no proof, but my doctor reckoned I would have been quite a likely candidate. So I think it is worth it for peace of mind, knowing I am reducing my chances of contracting a devastating disease. Also it was not such an expensive option since I got it online from a generic website at considerably reduced price.I can recommend www.westcoastdrugs.com

Hi there. Nolvadex was the original brand name for tamoxifen. As far as I know, Nolvadex is no longer made, and tamoxifen is made by generic companies. (I don't know how many generic companies make it, but my generic company is Teva.)
Glad to hear it seems to be working for you, and you made the best choice for you. -
Nolvadex is no longer made under that name and hasn't been since the middle of 2006. The West Coast Drugs website unfortunately still calls it Nolvadex but then says (generic) next to it. That's a tad misleading. I wonder what else on that site is misleading.
I hope this post isn't just an ad for the online pharmacy.

I agree, Ann. I wasn't sure whether to report it or not.

sploj21,
I'm really glad that you have not been diagnosed with breast cancer and are happy about your decision to take Tamoxifen. Tamoxifen can be a very effective preventative drug for many women, but it's not the right solution for every woman who is high risk to get breast cancer. The decision to take Tamoxifen should be made through discussions with an oncologist. There is a long list of pros and cons, and how it all adds up can be quite different for different women.

Yes Nolvadex is no more, but the generic equivalent of nolvadex (tamoxifen) is available easily online. You can also find it at http://www.internationaldrugmart.com

Preety bizarre than a person is a member for 2 years and their very first post recommends an online drug store?
