Thanks to everyone who responded to my question(hysterectomy) from the 4th.

You are all mentioning that you were ER positive but I was not.  So what does that mean for me?  Iv'e gone 15 years since the aggressive and large tumor but my tumor was not hormone positive. I have read that they are recommending removal of ovaries if you have breast cancer at a young age.

Any more thoughts.  I hope I'm not making a mistake by having a hysterectomy.

    Thanks,

    Vicki

    Vicki,

I had a hysto in April this year at 46 yrs old.....but I had mine due to the fact that my tumor was er+ 95% and pr+55%....Im not sure why they would want you to have one if you are negative....do you have other issues?

I havent regretted having mine done but Im not sure I would have done it if it hadnt been for trying to beat breast cancer....

I hope you find away to decide for sure what to do and to be comfortable with your decision...

    Hugs

    Jule

    Vicliz,

I read your other post and was wondering also, if you are hormone negative, why the onc would want you to have a hyst? Can you get a 2nd opinion?

My onc recommended ovary removal for IDC stage 1, er+/pr+. I am still on the fence about the ooph, but feel comfortable for now continuing the zolodex shots to shut down my hormones and staying on tamox. I also tested negative for BRCA. I am around your age at 49.

    Best wishes

    Julie

    Hi,

I was also er/pr+.  Honestly, I don't know why they would recommend a hyst to you if you are negative.  My tumor was fed by estrogen, but yours is not being fed by estrogen.  I would definitely get a second opinion.  They usually only recommend removal of the ovaries for er positive women.

    Good luck.
