Did anyone see the tribute commercial to him? The actor who played him died a week or two ago and I just saw the tribute commercial, with  clips from  his earlier days in black and white to his more recent ones in color. I thought it was touching and like when commericals occasionally do things like this.

I just saw the commerical for the first time today. I liked Mr. Whipple, Madge the manicurist and the Maytag repair guy.

I saw the tribute commercial as well and thought well of the compamy for doing it.  And it sure brought back memories of childhood.  Today is so stormy and windy here hollywood snow huge flakes, beautiful, but I went for my first snow walk yesterday and am I glad the wind is so strong today, wonder how much we'll get. All this snow reminds me of childhood and how I used to look forward to Christmas.

You're right, it does remind me of childhood too, especially the black and white parts of the commerical. It gave me a warm fuzzy feeling.

About six months ago I was searching the net to see if I could find an old commercial--and found it on Youtube ("I invented Pants" from the time of Bush & Gore debates). In the process, I found a site that bundled old, old commercials together and had them for sale. It was a TV station based overseas, so I'm not even sure if they have the right to do this, but I was intrigued. The Charmin/Mr. Whipple commercials are probably in this kind of bundle.

If anyone remembers the little parrot with the French accent who sold cat food (nervously) while a cat prowled behind him and can find the video clip, I'd love to see that one again!
