Hi, Ladies,
I've been in transit, then jet lagged so haven't been around lately. I caught up with the last few pages and it was good to hear that overall we are all doing reasonably ok. Those nice photos don't hurt...
I arrived here after a twelve hour flight to take my Dad straight to the hospital. He is really having a hard time with his leukemia chemo; lots of secondary infections that land him right back in the hospital. My Mom and brothers are exhausted so I'm glad to be here now. Only problem is that I have a terrible cold coming, feels like bronchitis again, which will render me useless with my dad. Can't be near him with any germs, he has such a compromised immune system now. until today I was ok and have been spending most of my time on the leukemia floor at MSK in NY with him, giving Mom a break. Cheery place! Some of these people are so young...hard. Tomorrow I think I'll sty in bed all day and try and whip this cold. Oy!
I took a class last year in mindfulness meditation and it was really great. Wish I had kept up with it, but it is so worthwhile. Really recommend it. I cried a lot in it. Not sure if you're supposed to, but being in the moment brought many feelings to the surface. The group was all cancer survivors, mostly, BC, so it was ok. Good thing to do.
Love you guys. Just a word to the new ladies, welcome! And I find that activity (June said this) helps with the achiness. I think we get stiff more easily, and I am also the most sore in the morning or after a long car ride. Moving around is really good. I especially like walking and swimming, oh and fish oil tablets!
Good wkend all, love, shari -
Shari so sorry you have to be going through this and feeling for so bad for your Dad. I am also glad that you check in here and keep us aware of everything. Your family is lucky to have you and I know this is incredibly hard for you especially seeing how bad off everyone in that hospital is, please know we are all here for you....watching loved ones suffer is one of the hardest things in life, I feel.... love and hugs and stay strong!
-
Hi ladies, I am so sorry for MIA and being quiet.. I had my sisters & nephews & nieces around for the holidays then back to work and had a BAD cold, was in bed for a whole week, Sooo I am just getting myself together. I missed you ladies:-) Hope you all had a great start of the new year.
This is my month 2 on the Tammy baby:-) and i think i have started to feel the tiredness:-( another thing i've started experienceing is this weird pain on my right side (where i had my port) it feels as if i still ahve the port, weird!! anyway, left a message with my nurse practitioner.
Sending you hugs!! and wishing you a great weekend!!

A cold Snooy what a bummer! When did you have your port removed? The nurse at the PS, told me that it could take up to a year for that to stop bothering me. She says with all the neves and such healing that it can feel funky for awhile
