    Paula, welcome.

I pay cash so I can get 3 to 6 months supply (insurance only covers a month at a time and I have a $10 generic copay). Just paid $15 cash for 3 months supply. Go figureUndecided

    Good luck with chemo.

Sounds like the cost really isnt going to be to bad.  I was hoping that it wasnt going to break the bank.  Chemo is in a way, so atleast this wont.

June - Tink let the cowboys out of the closet.  She didn't want to - sigh!.  Hope you can join us on Friday night.  So glad you had a fun family night.  I don't have family close so I can only imagine how wonderful it can be to get together.

Sandee - Glad you are on the road to recovery and feeling better.  That was sneaky with the pillow.  You are allowed.

Bailey5 - Welcome to the group.  I don't think I have seen you here before.  Sorry you have to be with us but we are a fun, supportive group that can help you with the any Tamosifen issues you may have.  In answer to your question, from what I have read and what my onc has told me, the benefits far outweight the SEs of Tamoxifen.  You say you want to stop taking it, what are you experiencing?  Perhaps we can offer you suggestions.  I look at taking Tamox as an added insurance policy against recurrence.  I am having minimal SEs and can live with it for the next 4 years and 9 months.  I want to do everything I can to fight this beast.   Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi - You guys move right along!  Day three, taking it with breakfast and doesn't seem to upset stomach so much.  Still doing the 10mg and will move up to 20 after a week.  Think it's too soon to notice anything else.

Omaz - Glad to hear you are doing well so far and hope you don't have any SEs. I take mine with breakfast but have to drink a glass of milk. Otherwise, I get a bit of a queasy tummy.  The milk is okay - I like milk and don't drink enough of it anyway.

Wow I am gone for the weekend and this train moved right along.

    Paula-I pay $20 for a 90 supply of tamox.

Omaz-glad you are not have terrible SE's.

Bailey5 If I understood it correctly I think tamox cuts down you chance of distance recurrence in 1/2. Even though I have had SE's It is worth it to me for the added insurance.

Alicia--How scarry going to the ER. Glad it you were OK, just think cruise, cruise, cruise. It will be relaxation and fun.

I had a great time this weekend with my girlfriends. We stayed up late laughing and laughing the first night. stayed in our PJ's drinking coffee all morning and then hit the spa. Had a wonderful massage. Boy was it needed. Went to funky little outdoor place with music last night and laughed some more. I love these girls. So it was a great weekend and now I get to go mow the yard. DH went to west texas to see DS and family so wont' be back until this evening.

Sherry - Wow!  It does sound like you had a much deserved wonderful weekend with the gal pals.  We all need that once in a while.

As for the cowboys, they are in Tink's closet.  She said she let them out, but you know Tink.

I have often said  this train is a bullet train - whew! it can move fast in a matter of hours some days.

Ladies - I have been feeling horrible lately.  I have decided the whole left side of my body is defected!!  No boob, left knee pain, horrible wrist pain and then to top it off I cut my finger really bad Wednesday night!  I am in pain and can't take any ibuprofen related products because I am having recon in 10 days - which terrifies me!!  I am having Bilateral TRAM flap and am really scared - of the length of the surgery and the recoery time.  Do any of you ladies have any advise/support about the surgery?  Oh - and I had to see the nutritionist at the cancer center - something else to worry about!

DAWN.. Im so sorry you are having such a hard time right now. I had a very long surgery as well ended up being 13 hours. I had the DIEP flap and the recovery was 6-8 weeks. my biggest fear believe it or not going onto surgery was waking up during it I dont know why but it was. I told the anesthiologist that and she reassured me that will not and does not happen and it didnt. What is your biggest fear? As far as far as recovery I know the TRAM IS a little longer than the DIEP because of the muscle they use. I would say what I learned was dont get behind the pain, take your pain meds as sched and let it work for you and dont be afraid to ask as many questions as you want in the hospital. I was so anxious even after my surgsery that even with a diluadid pump I still could not sleep so I told the nurse and she gave me something for anxiety. pm if you have any question...hugs!!!

Dawney - I can't help you with the surgery part, but can send a big hug and hope it makes you feel better.  I can be there holding your hand during surgery.

Tink - Don't work those boys too hard - they may not stick around next weekend.  hehehe

Dawn - am sending positive and loving thoughts your way.  So sorry you are having a rough day day today, and cutting a finger is sometimes just the last straw.  Let me echo Tink: keep ahead of the pain! Better to take the pain meds on a regular schedule so you never get into a really bad situation.  Also, don't wait for constipation to set in - get your stool softener of choice started when you start your pain meds!!! And if you are in pain now, call your doc for something more than tylenol; don't suffer silently!  Hugs.

Dawney ~ I have no words of wisdom regarding the surgery.  I hope it goes smoothly for you and you are not in too much discomfort.  In the meantime be kind to yourself these upcoming days.  I hope you feel better.

    :)

Tink - my biggest fear is being under anesthesia so long, I hate that my family is going to have to wait all that time.  Then, I am worried about recovery because of the muscle they are using.  Apparently I won't have any stomach muscle left and I keep wondering how I will be able to do certain things.  The doctor says that I will learn to compensate but I am still worried about it.  All I can say is I better have some great boobs and a flat stomach when it is all over with!!

lol.. you will sweetie... the anesthesia thing was my biggest fear too... I was under 13 hours but all is well. I know that doesnt take your fears away right now. I so remmeber the last week before surgery and I really felt the same way. I wanted to be anywhere but where I was going on the mrning of surgery. When I got there my blood pressure was 150/100 yikes... the nurse said you need to relax sweetie... ummm really???? dont think so!!! so in came the xanax...lol.... it is normal to be scared... but try as best as you can to know they know what they are doing and like my anesthiologist (sp) said I will be right by your side the whole time watching only you no worries!!1... A friend of mine had the TRAM flap and yes she says she did learn to compensate for it and is doing great now!... sending you big hugs!!!!!

June - Miss seeing you here.  You work way too hard and wish you had more time to relax and spend time with us.  I know we gotta do what we gotta do to get the job done.  Sometimes we are the last ones we take care of - I know I am guilty of that one big time.  Been spending all my free time making quilts for those who took care of me in the early days just after diagnosis.  I owe them a great deal of gratitute.  Sending you love & hugs my friend.
