Bottle 'o Tamoxifen

BS appt went great today. Told him about my mammo results, biopsy I had done and what the pain specialist said. BS had referred me to the pain doc and this was just a follow up from that. Bottom line, I don't have to go back to see him. I do have an "open" appt and can go back anytime I need to. We talked about my one year cancerversary coming up 2 months from today and he wants me to stop by on that day so he can share in my celebratioin. He is such a sweetie.
Now I am appt-free for 3 months. WOOHOO!
-
Jo you should take a cake and have a party at his office.
-
Sherry - They say great minds think alike - well, I was just looking through my cake recipes to see which one I wanted to make.
-
Has this happened to anyone on this board and can it be Tamoxifen related??
I was polishing my toe nails and noticed my pinky toe nail hanging. It was easily removed without any pain or discomfort. Haven't injured my toe recently.
-
MissTW - I have not heard of that happening due to Tamoxifen. I would encourage you to talk to your onc about this as soon as you can. We can't be too careful. I hope you can get some answers real soon. Let us know what you find out.
-

Well everyone I am going in for an MRI tomorrow to find out the cause of my knee pain for the past 3 weeks. My orthopedist, a very positive and upbeat man who makes you think your problems are not all that bad, thinks it is a torn meniscus. However I of course am worried about metastasis. And then it will be a whole week til I get results. Ugh...
-
surfette - Will be in your pocket tomorrow for your MRI. Sending positive thoughts and prayers that is it not metastasis.
-
Surfette I am jumping in, watch out jo
-
Sherry - Since we are both small gals, we can make room for anyone else that wants to come along. We know how to do this.
-
I'll be there too Surfette. Hope the pockets are deep because I'm kind of tall. Not big, just tall.
-
Hi Sherry, we are still on for moving to Austin after our daughter graduates next June unless told otherwise. Hoping to fly down this summer with hubby and check out Austin. Remind me again where you are in Texas? Are you on FB too.
Jo, I ate the whole piece of cake. Virtual or not I add on the pounds. Sigh
Hi Tink, how's life? Hope all is well?
Chabba, you're weather has to be as depressing as mine? When is summer coming.

Jules - Glad you enjoyed the cake.
We got some much needed rain today as a result of Tropical Storm Arlene. It was 323 miles south of us - got the rain from the outer rain bands. My rain gauge said 1.2 inches. The grass will really start growing now.
-
Surfette.. count me in im here too!!!
Hi Jules.. just got back today from vacation.. good to be home!
Jo that cake was delicious!!!! yummy thank you!!!!
-
Jules - Some rain, some wonderful sun every day this week. Actually more sun than rain. sun and light fluffy clouds now.
-
Jules-I am sending you a PM
Tink glad you are home
Jo we got some much needed rain as well. It was funny I was in Seguin for Yoga and it did not rain there I got home and thought boy things sure look wet. DH confirmed we had a nice rain.

I talked with my doc last Friday. We discussed my Tamoxifan use. He said that I will be on it for 2 years then I'll switch to an aromatase inhibitor for three years. I asked why not Tamox for 5 years (like my sister) and he stated that there is a lower morbidity with switching to an aromatase inhibitor after 2 years ( which means in 10 years my chances of still being alive are good, but my risk of BC coming back goes up if I take Tamoxifen for 5 years instead).
Has anyone else heard this? It kinda sucks because my sister has BC too and she is on the 5 year program. How do i have that conversation with her without worrying her.
-
PITPAT i HAVE NOT HEARD OF THAT EITHER. I just had my 6 month onc check up this month and she plans on keeping me on the tamoxifen for 5 years. My onc told me that the aromase inhibitors are usually for post menapuasal women and I am pre maybe that has something to do with it?. When I was having a real hard time in Nov with the tamoxifen she said the only option would be to shut down my ovaries and put me on one of the inhibitors but warned me those could be worse, thank God the se are tolarable not lokable but tolerable lol...good luck
-
Tinkertude, I wasn't menopausal until my first chemo. I'll be having my overies out so I WILL be menopausal for sure. Maybe this has something to do with it. I do know that my sister's period stopped with chemo too and then had her overies out at 2 years post BC treatment and she is still on Tamoxifen. They haven't mentioned and aromatse inhibitor to her at all.
