Deleting "sent" PMs??
Is there a way to delete sent PM messages?

Someone asked this a few weeks ago and the answer from the moderators was "no". I don't know if it's planned.... I sure hope so.
-
UGH....I bet there's a lot of server space being taken up by sent PMs that we really don't need to save.
Mods, this is pretty important to me. The definition of PM means "private". Those of us with stage IV disease may have left instructions for loved ones to log onto the boards after our passing to notify people. I doubt that many of us would like to have our personal correspondence read after we're gone. I suppose I could just leave instructions for them to start a new account, but that seems like it could be a problem for lots of reasons; for instance, there was a bogus thread about someone's passing posted a while back.
I dunno...I just think it's a little weird not to have this feature.

Mods,
I apologize if this had been addressed in another thread, but I haven't seen it. Are there plans to add a "delete sent PMs" feature? If so, then I will anxiously await its implementation. If not, is there some reason that I am missing?
Thank you for your attention.

*bump*
I guess it's my day to B*tch. Mods, I would really like to know if this is a planned feature. If it is not, I am going to have to change the way I communicate with some board members.
I'm not asking for a commitment or demanding the feature NOW--I just want to know if it is planned.
-
Bumping again. I've been cleaning out my PMs and it's frustrating that I can't delete the ones I've sent.
-
Hi everyone, this feature is on the list with some other PM features like showing which messages have been replied to. I'm afraid that we do not have a delivery date yet but we will keep everyone posted.
-
Thanks for the update.

Found this older thread... I also sent a note to the mods awhile ago and was told they were sorry but no way to delete sent PMs. I tried to delete them today...in fact there is a "delete" button on the earliest page...but the delete button goes to the "sorry" page. Deleting received messages works just fine. Don't understand why we can't delete the sent ones.
MODs.. are you still working on this?
-
Is the ability to delete sent PMs still on the "to do" list?
-
That's my question again - I see a delete button on the 2nd sent page - but when I check the sent messages to delete I get a sorry page.
I really would like to get rid of my 58 plus sent messages.
Please please mods help us out
Thanks so much

Wow, I did not realize I could not delete PMs that I sent. I guess I will not use PMs for most messaging form now on.
Mods: This is an important feature and essential to many of us. Please do not keep it on the back burner.

I posted to the mods about this on another recent thread, requesting that they respond to this issue as I first posted about it in 2007. They replied with a "p.s.": "we cannot delete sent PMs". I don't think they are understanding the question so I will re-state it here:
MODS:
We would like the ability to DELETE PMs that we have sent from OUR inboxes/saved messages. A copy of every PM we send is automatically saved and we have no ability to delete these messages. Saving a copy of every PM we send is surely using up valuable server space. Imagine if your email program saved a copy of every message you've ever sent and did not allow you to delete it from your email client! WE ARE NOT ASKING FOR THE ABILITY TO DELETE MESSAGES FROM SOMEONE ELSE'S INBOX. THIS IS STRICTLY ABOUT MANAGING/CLEANING UP OUR OWN "SPACE" HERE.

*BUMP* for an answer from the mods, please

Good point. I tried to clean out PM space ages ago and found I could not delete Sent Messeges. I forget what board I posted the question on but got no answer. Thanks Mods for addressing this and like Bad said, it would sure free up a lot of space.
Can you imagine the cleaning frenzy that will to on when we can delete?
Edit to add, thanks Bad for addressing this. It seems the fix is a long time coming, I just checked when you initially posted Bad.
Mods??? Where are you?
-
Actually Madalyn, that makes sense. So as long as they don't mind all the space we've used up........perhaps a good idea.
-
Madalyn,
I thought about that possibility and would be fine with it, IF THE MODS WOULD TELL US THAT IS WHY THEY CANNOT BE DELETED! It just really bugs me that we can't get an answer here.
-
LOL, and I guess if they are storing them for reviewing.........then they are not really PMs.
