Tainted Ginger

Options

Don't know about you but I use fresh ginger a heck of allot in cooking.  Seems like this is one of the herbs that is really vulnerable to pesticides and I would avoid anything but organic.

    Well, here's a good one.

I buy lots from my local health food store.  In a "basket" deal of fruits and veggies, they had a jar of minced garlic.  Organic.  You guessed it:  from China.

    I threw it out.

Yourself, and you have to be ever vigilant.  Try to smell the roses while you're at it, though. Smile

I wonder if these growers in China can get away with calling themselves organic when they really aren't?   Who's watching them and testing the produce?  I'm not even sure organic would be safe unless it isn't grown in China.  What a mess.  Why is our gov't allowing any produce in from China?  Since we allow it in, then it should be up to us to test it, and are we?

Many "organic" products are from China.  So are supplements.  Need to really read the labels to determine the source.  I can't imagine anything grown in China being organic as they have such pollution problems.
