Let's conduct our own study on how we all got breast cancer
Comments
-
oh yeah! little sisters for sure! i could tell you horror stories.
-
Me too Kath, and I have the scars to prove it!
-
Exactly! and, she punched me in the chest place, where eventually a breast would be.
-
no, sorry, I was the perfect little sister! lol then my little brother came along...the oopsy baby
wasn't the "you can't fool Mother Nature" something about butter? maybe it was the margarine...
-
OH, yeah, maybe it was margarine,,i was trying to remember.I know,, it was the hours and hours of Gilligan's Island that I watched as a kid.
-
At first I thought, how could it be little sisters? My little sister is terrific! Then I remembered - I have BC. My older sister had BC. Little sister? Nope. She's fine, thank G-d. Now I'm starting to wonder why....

-
Body on Tap. Used to use that as well, made my hair so soft and shiny!
-
new thought - maybe it was the introduction of that stupid seat belt shoulder strap - grrrr "dislike" that thing with a passion...usually i drive now holding it out - what a pain
-
Not sure about the cancer connection, some of those seat belt contraptions could decapitate you if not careful!
-
No, sorry, you all are wrong because I'm the younger sister. Have 2 older sisters and they do not have BC. I think they would have gotten it but the oldest probably passed it to the middle sister who passed it down to me. By the time I knew males could get BC it was too late as mine had taken up residence and so my brother, youngest of us four, was spared. (but he did get heart disease while we 3 gals have strong tickers!)
Probably not the seat belt either since it crushes my left breast but my BC was on the right. Hmmmmm, maybe the seat belt protected my left one by being squeezed so tightly the BC cells could not get comfortable so they travelled across my chest to the right?
-
I agree with Glennie19 - it was hours and hours of watching Gilligan's Island whilst eating margarine on white bread :-)
-
that's right, because you can't fool Mother Nature!
I have to go back to the jump roping AND the hopscotching! that was a lot of boob jiggling at a tender age...luckily they both don't seem to be practiced anymore...can't remember the last time I saw a jump rope tied to a mailbox because you only had two people...
-
Sorry I am the party pooper...I don't think there is a common denominator or else the researchers would have some idea...It is known that some of the Asian countries have lower rates so maybe it is related to diet. Still, no good to heap coals on our lives as we did not have a clue in our youth if some things were going to cause BC...No I think there has always been breast cancer but we are now in an era when the vast dissemination of information about it has caused the rate of incidents and treatments to rise...What say all you ladies? Carolyn from Music City
-
so true, notbuyingit,,, does anyone jump rope anymore???and definitely the margarine on white bread,,,, that soft tub stuff.
-
car2tenn, why not continue to search for a common denominator? I think that is basic in research for any problem solving - and here you have a gathering of 100's of women/men with the same disease. I thought i should be filling out surveys from day one - I had none of the currently known risk factors. And i'm sure we would all like to have some clue as to what to avoid going forward.
that being said - have you read through this tread? it's hilarious! and amazing how many little things we all have in common! seriously find the cause? probably not - seriously find some common ground to bind us together & not feel alone - absolutely! and a couple of barrel laughs as a bonus!
bring it on, ladies!...raw Tollhouse cookie dough??? yikes!
-
The raw cake batter!! The Super Super Sweet Southern Ice Tea! -
Raw cookie dough, licking the frosting bowl........
Car2tenn, this isn't a truly serious thread. Have you read any of it?
-
OMG I used to love those candy cigarettes, where can I get some? That's it for sure.
Nothing to do with inhaling second hand smoke from my father for decades. My father, by the way, lost half a lung to TB in his youth, which didn't stop him from subsequently smoking two packs of cigarettes a day for at least 40 years. Hasn't been to a doctor in about 50 years, has never had a serious illness since the TB and is still alive and kicking at age 84. Go figure.
-
i hear you, Deblc! Definitely the 2nd hand smoke! Mine was shot in the chest in WWII and lost part of a lung. Still smoked 2 packs a day until he got cancer of the larynx and they had to remove his voice box. He smoked all the way to the O.R. Lived 2 more decades after that. -
Glennie, amazing isn't it, that they ingested known carcinogens for years and, in my father's case, did not get cancer. And we don't have a clue what caused ours.
-
it just shows you that there is more to it, than only exposure to known carcinogens,,, why else would someone who is constantly exposed to it (like cigarettes) NOT get cancer?? Some gene that turns on or off,,, something??? -
.....other people....sigh....
-
Hee Hee...my puppies loves licking little kids...the taste so good...all the residual...cereal, graham cracker, just too sweet....your right mom wasn't worried about your baby
-
melissa- omg on that Earth Born!!! I used and liked!
And, it could have been a little sister.. but that would also tie in with the middle child determination we touched on prior.
kathec- other people.... I'm feeling ya!
-
Loved margarine on white bread. And when they came out with white bread with no holes, Wow - Wonder of Wonders. Think that put Taystee out of business (and gave us BC).
-
I live near Lake Erie and we had asbestos tiles in the basements. Oh they are not an issue if sealed...well, we had leaky damp basements and where did that shit evaporate? That and we used to live above an office (2nd hand smoke?)
-
patoo - That's it! Wonder Bread! Builds Strong Bodies 8 Ways, my @$$!
-
For Texas girls it was Mrs. Baird's.
-
yes maybe they should be studying why they Don't get it - instead of why we do
maybe the white bread...how it sticks to the roof of your mouth...and it's not as popular now with everyone promoting the 101-grain cardboard-that-passes-for-bread
-
Or the 'wraps' - what are they REALLY made of? Whole wheat my butt - nothing 'whole' about it.
