6 Mo. Suspicious Mammo...Normal?

My Mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer (stage 1) in April of 2007.  She had a lump. in May of 2007 and an additional surgery in June to get clearer margins.  In July she started 4 cycles of TC, ending in September.  The first week of October, she had her port removed.  In the middle of October, she began hormonal treatment. On Nov 1st, she had her first 6 month follow-up mammogram.  Two hours later, she started her 6.5 weeks of radiation.  With all of this said, she receives a letter in the mail today stating her mammogram look suspicious...additional tests may be needed.

As much as I tried to stay calm and reassure her that everything is okay, what do I know (but I figured a positive attitude couldn't hurt)?  We already have her 6 month check-up scheduled with her surgeon next Thursday.  Is it normal for suspicious mammogram reports to follow after treatment for BC?  I would love to hear people's own personal stories---what were your 6 month mammogram results?

Thanks---just trying to reach out and find some information--- a week seems like forever to wait to find out what may be coming next.

    Hey Shopper,

It seems strange to me that they would do a mammo before treatment is complete.....???

Other than that, please know that since my 'lil sis was originally dx 9 years ago....she has probably only had one or two mammo's that didn't.....look suspicious. The poor girl has had so many biopsies....in fact, she had a recent scare when her vertabrae lit up on a scan (negative thank God) that she has decided to go ahead and have a mastectomy on her "good" boob. Well, I think my recent dx of bc had something to do with that decision too. : (

I'm just happy she's doing it so she won't every have to worry again about a suspicious mammo.

I wish you the best of everything...but please be prepared. Once you have cancer, they are real careful about giving all clears on mammo's.

    Hugs, Traci
