I had fat necrosis, especially in my cancer breast. I got the main fat removed when I went in for nipple reconstruction. It was not cancer, just fat necrosis.

If you continue to be concerned I would get a second opinion from a Different BS and PS (I had 3--I was panicky when I felt it). You can also request a biopsy.

I have some fat necrosis (much smaller on the non-cancerous side, but decided not to have that removed. It didn't seem worth it to open up the other breast just to remove it.

Once you've digested the opinion of the consulting docs you could decide if you wanted a biopsy.

    Hugs,

    Peggy

Wanted to know is the surgery procedure simple for fat necrosis? I have fat necrosis in my left breast, this is the same breast they removed my Cancer from. Now they are telling me they have to go back in and remove this because it could be in the way when trying to screen me for Cancer again. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer Triple Negative on Jan. 06, 2016 and started my Chemo on Feb. 9, 2016. I did 4 months of AC treatment and then 4 months of Taxol. I did Taxol once a week for 12 weeks. Then I had my lumpectomy with a breast reconstruction. A month after my surgery I did 5 weeks of Radiation. Now because of all this they had me off from work about a year. As soon I return back to work they find fat necrosis. Now I have to have this removed. The doctor claim I should only be out about a week. Have anyone else been out of work longer then that for this surgery? The doctors say I am Cancer Free and this is just a minor set back, but looking at a lot of blogs I have seen where people is saying there's keep coming back. Is any of this normal?

I had my yearly mamo this week and report says probable necrosis post surgery. I had DCIS in 2013 with 2 lumpectomies and raidation. This is the first I've heard of it and I did read one post that said after further testing it was determined to be cancer. Any others find this? My left breast is dimpled and I get a lot of pain in it. Not worried about appearance. Thanks.
