Seeking lesbians and bisexual women with breast cancer
hello all!
What a great message board. I have been so touched and inspired by all of your stories and sharing. I wanted to let you know about a study we are currently conducting at Boston University entitled "Sexual Wellbeing in Sexual Minority Women with Breast Cancer" As you know, there is much talk out there about women's sexual experiences post breast cancer treatment, though very few mention the unique experiences of lesbian, bi, and queer women. We hope you will consider helping us better understand the needs and experiences of lesbian and bisexual women after breast cancer by joining out study. Please see the information below and contact me with any and all questions.
Best

Hi,
I am 37 and I have two years in battle agains breast cancer. After mastectomy, histerectomy and reconstruction gone wrong, my 8 years partner left me. For the first time in my life I feel depressed and lonely. I am trying to make new friends,..............

Hi Josie24,
I'm sorry you've gone through so much -- the health issues are bad enough -- and a breakup is bad enough -- but the two together totally s*cks. No wonder you feel depressed.
There are a lot of great supportive women on this board -- hope we can help lift your spirits,
Best wishes,
Ann

Josie,
I am so sorry to hear of everything you are going through. Remember that you are NEVER alone and we are all here for you. My sister was just recently diagnosed with breast cancer and unfortunately, I live very far away from her, but she knows I love her, and hopefully I will get to see her soon.
You hang in there and keep checking this site, as it has given me strength I didn't even know I had. We will do the same for you.
Some things to think about to maintain a healthy level of insanity:
- at lunchtime, sit in your parked car with sunglasses on and point a hair dryer at passing cars and see if they slow down
- page yourself over the intercom, don't disguise your voice
- put your garbage can on your desk and label it "in"
Keep your sense of humor Joise, it will help you get through the cancer and your partner leaving.
