Kiss I am a 5 year survivor of breast cancer. I am 43. I had a lumpectomy, chemo, and radation. I also took tamoxifen. Now i more or less stopped my periods. I would have one  or two, then nothing.I ask my Dr. He recommended me come back if I did have another one and clean me out. LOL.I have had an biospy,  to check the lining of the uterus. It was fine. But should I be concerned I am not having periods. If anyone has information I would appreicate it. I know this isnt a major thing with so many others have more problems than me. I just thought there might be someone out there with the same thing happening.

    Hi Tammy,

I can't really help you with your question, as I have only just started HT.  But, if you post your question under the Hormonal thread, you may find more ladies with a lot more information to give.

Congrats on the FIVE years!!!  and 50 more to come!!

    Tammy:

I'm 48 and a 7 year survivor and also had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation.  My doctor told me that depending on how close I was to menopause, chemo could put me into it permanently or temporarily.  My periods stopped after the first chemo treatment and have never returned.  There is a blood test that you can get to confirm that you are in menopause.

Hi:  Congrats on the 5 and 7 year!!!

I am a 5 year survivor next month;  I was dx at 43 in 2003, and chemo put me in chemopause (no periods) until NOV 2005 when I had an oopherectomy upon finding out my BRCA status.  My period never came back in the two years between....

Before the chemopause, my periods were still regular, but I had some perimen symptoms (e.g., migraines right before, etc.).  It is a very variable thing.

    Good luck to you,

    Flashdif
