Hi Ladies,

A few days ago I was reading your posts, and you were talking about breast surgeons in New York (a father and son). My daughter Lori is plannning on having rec. but wants to know to know which surgeons are the best. Many of you were speaking very highly of this father/son team. Can't seem to find the post. I post on TNBC site under (daughter dx TNBC). Thank you in advance to any help you can give. She had tried contacting another surgeon recommended by a friend (Dr. Jacobs) in New York, but apparently he is not practicing anymore.

    Hi Nancy -

I also post at tnbc and FORCE.   At FORCE, I know there's lots of fans of Ashikari & Salzberg in NY ...

As one who was going to have bi-lat mast post-bi-lat lumpectomies, but a 2nd met got me first ... I did a lot of research on recon.

It's not just which surgeons are "best" but which surgeons are "best at a particular type of recon" and what type of recon the woman wants!

I think the book by Kathy Steligo - The Breast Reconstruction Guidebook - is excellent.  It goes over all of the various recon options.   Based on your medical situation, body type and desires, certain recon options will be better.  That book is available thru the FORCE website at www.facingourrisk.org   There is also lots of discussion on ps's on that website ...

Best to you and your daughter,

    CalGal

    Hi CalGal,

Hey! I know you!LOL Read all of your posts...so much info and so much knowledge..and so much compassion!

I will get that book for Lori. I think the surgeon that the ladies were talking about was Ashikari..if he has a son who practices with him? Lori will definitely research before having reconstructive surgery. That won't be for a while anyway. Thanks for replying.

    Hugs to you,

    Nancy
