Hey all! I hope you were able to catch the special spot that Robin did this morning on GMA (I was late for work staying to watch it!)! She had 4 survivors on, each from a different age group/decade. And their point was....treatment isn't easy, but it is doable! They were all African-American, but one had ER+/PR+ and had a bilateral and hysterectomy and no chemo. The others didn't specify, but I was assuming that at least one had been triple-negative, especially since they discussed how bc in African-American women tends to be more aggressive. The overall point was that everyone has a different experience and, in order to get through, one needs to just 'put one foot in front of the other.'

The women were wonderful and inspiring and so was Robin! It was all quite emotional (yes, I cried!), but I am so grateful that GMA is showing what it's really like!

Saw it.......was hoping someone would post. I thought GMA did a good job with the interview. I felt as though they must have read our comments.....so much more thoughtful. I am also glad that it was with African-American women........the more information the better.



And Robin looked rather pretty too.

Great interview.  She did the interview prior to her 2nd chemo before her hair loss. She sure has a beautiful wig and she looked gorgeous today!!

I'm not sure that's right, Rocktobermom. Robin had her second infusion last Thursday and today said to the women that she's 'on the hair watch' and then asked them when their hair fell out. Did you miss that part?

The interview was pre-taped and that's where she said she was on hair watch. I am pretty sure her hair was "longer" but who knows?  She looked great and we all did with or without wigs ... it's the smile and the spirit.

I appreciated the remark about the "gals at home on the sofa, sick as dogs, saying there's no way I can go to work". or something like that.  Yep, I'd say our, and likely many other posts, made a dent in the "you're not sick" approach to bc that the bs on the first telecast made.

This is my first morning home to watch GMA.  If I did now know better I would never know what she is going through.  I am sure by now she is wearing a wig but to me it looks exactly like I remember her hair plus her face looks so radiant.

Ah, the shoes...the women were modeling the new Fall fashion shoes/the new rage. They are adorable, awesome shoes, except for the heels, which look like they were snapped off of the back of the shoe. turned sideways and glued onto the back of the ball or the instep. Seriously ugly, but if I had the money, I'd probably try a pair just for fun!

OMG, those are the funniest shoes I've seen in a while!  I did see some lately that have a spring at the heel that are being sold a lot to nurses and folks with foot problems.  They looked just as weird but at least the spring was heel to sole.

I went to GMA's site and looked up shoes and saw the video.  Too funny! Seeing Robin in a "hole" new way, LOL.

Thanks for sharing the link. It makes me wonder if I am doing enough to help others that are dx. Am I ready to help others? I wonder if Robin goes back to her dressing room and cries after she does these segments. I would. They are very emotional.

BMD....I think she does cry.....in the shower, when she hears a sad song, when she hears of a young person dying, when she hears about someone getting married, when she gets ready to plan a trip or event 6-12 months away...and wondering if she will still be healthy.



I found tears coming at all times of the day triggered by all things. I have tears falling right now while I type this message. So.....if she is anything like me......and I assume like most of US........she has and will shed tears in private.....but if not........well I guess we will have to wait for her to tell us on the air that she does.

I still cry and I am past the 2 year mark. Hearing songs like Blink, Skin or Butterfly Kisses, watching my 6 year old sleeping, looking at pictures before bc.....well call me Queen of Kleenex!

I am the biggest crybaby ever, I can talk about breast cancer and me for a short while and then it becomes so overwhelming that I can't help but shed tears. I have always said my bladder is just below my eyes.

Oh my gosh, Rocktobermom, I just heard "Blink" for the first time on the radio the other day.  And that song is soooo true.

At my daughter's wedding she danced with her dad to Butterfly Kisses.  DH didn't think he'd be able to get through the song.  Then my middle daughter gets married.  They danced to Celine Dion's song, Because You Loved Me.  I still cry when I hear those songs.

I cried the first time I heard Skin and that was before my dx. I also cry with blink and butterfly kisses and hundereds of others. I have also cried the past 6 years at the Race for the Cure when the Survivors walk in just watching for my mom. This year I will be at the head of the line in the under 1 yr dx and I know that I will be bawling, I am choking up just thinking about it and the race  is Saturday.

I have a friend who's 18 years out. At my first RFTC in the Survivor's Procession, she was there handing out tissues to everyone as they passed through the final gate. I was grateful since the tears were out of control!

Back to Robin....She was obviously wearing a wig today, though I don't think anyone but the seasoned eyes (such as ourselves) could have known. It looks exactly like her hair....very pretty. But it was too perfect, if you know what I mean..? She was also wearing a pink sweater and looked absolutely terrific!

I thought she looked terrific too, and was wondering about a wig. My mom noticed it was not quite the same color and she did not have the usual bangs.

So it IS a wig!  I wondered about it, too!  She looks amazing.  I really wish I had looked so great during tx.

Robin looks great, but you would, too ..... A wig, some lighting, professional make up and voila!

I was told all the time how wonderful I looked.  But I had make up on and my wig. You wouldn't have known, except some days I looked tired.  

I am glad Robin feels well enough to work. Maybe it's keeping her spirits up and I know it encourages others to get their mammos.

Just wondered if anyone has heard anything about Robin? She has been 'out' for the past 2 days and I thought, at first, it was unrelated to her BC (since she has chemo on Thursdays), but this morning, Diane said "...and she knows that all of us are thinking of her." Curious....

maybe she has moved on to a second type of chemo. like the AC/Taxol combo or something similar. AC was awful for me but taxol (except for the muscle/bone pain) was a breeze.  maybe she is having some issues like these. just a thought.

Well, Sherri, it seems that you were right on-target. Robin reported this morning that her third chemo last Thursday totally knocked her down and she's been recovering ever since. She and Diane even joked about Diane coming over on Monday night and rearranging Robin's furniture and Robin claimed not to have remembered her being there. Poor girl....I hope that her next infusion doesn't affect her as much!

I saw Robin this morning since the wig......she looked great! I thought she looked just a tiny bit paler. I also looked pretty good when I put on the makup and got passed day 5. I just hope she continues to feel great and has no complications.

She really does look great! My heart is breaking for her, though, when there are opportunities to try new exercises or physically-challenging things featured. She was always the guinea pig and obviously loved trying the new gimmicks. Like yesterday they had that giant ball that you get inside and roll down a hill at like 30 miles an hour. One of the other reporters demo'd it, but you could tell that Robin was all excited. As a fellow athlete, I can appreciate the desire! And then this morning, Chris and Diane did the karaoke spinning with the instructor while Robin just stood there. Ughh!

The "zorb" ball they had on yesterday was a hoot! They are in Pigeon Forge, TN. We may be going there soon; my boys are wanting to try it!Me, I'd just barf. LOL

Robin looked "different" somehow this morning. I think she may be losing weight. I am so glad that she is able to take time off when she needs it.
