I'm past this stage in my treatment...but I just wonder how well the new rads treatment are doing.  I know that are pushing to save more breast (less mast.) and do less aggressive rads.  I jealous that it could have been easier. (I was hit from top of my neck around and over shoulder and underarm to my back & under my breast bone.)

The new rads called "brachytherapy" or rads seed/balloon.  Is being used here (FLA) a lot.  This is where you get only local rads inside twice daily for 5 days. ( I got 33 rads like most of us)

Has anyone had this procedure?  How was it?

    Hi Florida Lady,

My name is Nancy and I post on the TNBC site (daughter dx triple negative.) I have been worried as to the side effect of the rads for my daughter Lori. However, after checking out the "brachytherapy", I see where they have been doing this for over a century. If you google it and look at wikipedia, it is quite informative. Not sure if having the "seeds" implanted is a really good option. No rads at all would be a better option, but not one that Lori can choose.

We are also living in hope...of a cure.. for you and everybody!!!

    Hugs,

    Nancy

I had partial breast radiation which amounted to 2x a day for 5 days.  I had the treatment after lumpectomy but prior to chemo in January 2007.  I have been pleased with the process.  The procedure may still be classified as Phase III trial.  Check clinical trials - Dr. Rachel Rabinovitch was one of the study authors.  Good luck!
