Brigitte, I heard not long ago that there's not that much iron in spinach. Read below.

Iron in Spinach
Air date: November 14, 2004
You remember the cartoon character, Popeye, who eats a can of spinach when he wants to develop some quick muscles.
Popeye's creators chose spinach -- instead of, say, brussels sprouts or broccoli -- because of an 1870 German study that claimed spinach contained about as much iron as there is in red meat!
In reality, this was nothing more than an accounting error. The scientists put the decimal point in the wrong place!
The iron content of spinach is actually one-tenth of what was reported. The mistake was corrected in 1937. It was too late for Popeye, though. He'd already been getting strong on spinach for almost 10 years!
Spinach does contain iron, but no more than other leafy vegetables.
In fact, the iron in spinach is not easily absorbed by the body unless it's combined with an acid, such as a squirt of lemon juice.
If you are a spinach fan regardless of its iron content, you'll still benefit from its high vitamin C and riboflavin content.
If, on the other hand, you've been choking spinach down all these years in the hopes of building your biceps, now you have an excuse to stop!

Do you know if the Mangosteen or Xango is being sold in P.R.???
-
-
I was wondering why the juices are not organic?! Also thought you could mix up the same juices (without any pesticides) and use the pure capsule with it. I saw that on a competitor's web site.
Seems like there is alweays a juice coming that is the ultimate anti oxidant: Noni, Acai, mangosteen, etc. I need to hear more from people who actually have had the scans to show remission etc. The testimonial page did not convince me (only the gullible, cancer patient part of me that wants to think a juice could CURE??!! Get some bc people to give us their healing stories. I am 57 and have been through one too many MLM's. I still am open to the possibility of a product having benefits, just need more concrete info... and think organic is important at this stage of health. Probably would cost too much to do so.

I've tried Mangosteen, I've heard about Mona Vie and I tried the Juice Plus. Actually, Juice Plus really helped my blood counts during chemo. My blood (wbc) stayed strong till I stopped taking them, went from 12 to 2!! I really need to get back in touch with the girl who sold me that. But for now, I have been taking Tunguska Blast ... that really helps with the joint pain and helps me sleep.

I've hard alot of positive reviews on Mangosteen for it's antioxident properties. Dr. Oz has high regards for it too. My naturalpath said, if I don't mind spending the money, than to include it in my daily juice regime. A few days ago, I found the Xango brand on sale for $28 a bottle in a local health food store. I think that I will go back a buy more bottles since usually it's $36.95/bottle. You only need 1-3oz a day. So I decided to do about 2 oz/day. It's also good for various aches and pains, in addition to helping keep cancer away.

Flalady-
I saw the $25 a bottle on the web but didn't realize that there's no shipping charge. I'm always in a hurry (story of my life
) so I just skim through things but I'll have to go back and order 4 bottle if there's no shipping charge. That's $12 saved! Thank you.

I have used the Xango Mangosteen juice - even became a distributor so it would be less expensive. Made my husband take it with me. We went through a case of the stuff and didn't feel any different. My husband drinks a small can of V8 juice every day and feels better.
-
Laura-
my naturalpath suggested that every day I drink 4 oz of acai berry with blueberry, 4 oz. pomeganate, 4 oz of carrot juice for the antioxidents. My naturapath says that's what she does too. I asked her about the Xango Mangosteen and she said that if I don't mind spending the money to include it too. I do feel good energy wise but can't say it's due to the Mangosteen. I am on a long list of supplements too.
-
I agree, Liz. I think it's good stuff; however too expensive when other things have anti-oxidants as well. Maybe not to the same degree, but enough for most of us...

Remember there are people out there that think giving a product a 1 month trial is going to miraculously heal them. How can we expect anything, whether it be food, supplements, juices work within 1 month. It's crazy! I have been drinking Xango for 3 years now. No colds, no flu's, my kids are as healthy as can be, my husband's 20+ years of allergies are completely gone, off of ALL allergy meds, my lactose intolerance is gone, my daughter's skin eczema is 90% gone (If I would take the time to apply it directly to her arms it would clear fully) AND our best friend Susana who is a brain, breast and liver cancer survivor is a living testimony of what Xango did for her when she was ready to throw in the towel. So when people say they tried Xango for a month and didn't feel anything or any different I'm curious to ask "How many ounces a day were you drinking?". "Were you consistent?" "Did you drink purified water half your weight in ounces to flush out all the toxins?" "Did you trial the product for a minimum of 60-90 days?" The body didn't get sick overnight, why do we expect to recover overnight? I know many, many people personally who have had incredible results with Xango. Again, use the product the way it was intended to be used. Call me if you are truly interested in exploring with Xango. 661-212-8400

Rachel44,
Your so right...Our bodies did not get sick over night. And all natural supplements, are about slow rebuilding of the the body. That's why they do no harm.

I took mangosteen juice at the time that I was doing treatment(4 cycles of AC).
I stopped after - not too crazy about the taste and it was not easy for me to get it (bad experience with the distributor and the person who recommended it to me). I still have a couple of bottles left untouched that I have been meaning to finish.
I hear a lot of good feedback about it though.
If I had access to it in fruit form, I will probably go that route.
Just recently, I saw mangosteen juice in the shelves of Costco.
-
If you haven't tried the Xango brand, you may want to give it a try. 80% of the bottle is 'WHOLE MANGOSTEEN FRUIT" the other percentage are other WHOLE FRUIT high antioxidant fruits, mainly berries. Xango is the FIRST COMPANY to bring to market the WHOLE FRUIT mangosteen juice with a 25 year patent. Other companies can only use extracts even if they call it "WHOLE FRUIT". You'd be surprised at what other companies claim just to get the consumer to purchase their product. As far as Costco's brand is concerned, well, there is no WHOLE FRUIT...period. Just watered down, nasty tasting liquid. You can visit www.mymangosteen.com/jrromero for exact ingrediants and benefits of Xango's mangosteen juice. It's delicious, the research is there and now in 22 countries. That alone says alot.
ps: Xango really stands behind their product with a FULL money back guarantee. No questions asked.

Hi, just wanted to share my story about the Mangostein Juice, My father had bowel cancer in 2005 he passed away in 2007. In his battle fighting cancer he suffered from severe depression in the early stages and towards the end. His cancer had spread fast and we had little hope. It spread all through out his body and in the last few weeks in hosp he was getting treated for his depression we were told he would only last a few days maybe a week. It was then I discovered the Mangostein Juice in my research of alternative treatment. I took my father home and tried to get him to try the 21 day challenge for end stage cancer. He had to drink 1 bottle of mangostein juice per day with 1 gallon of water (approx 3 1/2 litres of water) for 21 days.. He couldn't keep up with drinking the water so, he drank what he could throughout the day. I was so amazed that 8 months later he was at peace with himself. He put weight back on and was walking again.. My father didn't want to go on anymore so he stopped drinking the juice. To this day I believe that the juice was shrinking his tumours slowly and if he did do the 21 day challenge several times and continued to drink it he may have survived alot longer. I really believed it worked for him and I reccommend the 21 challenge to anyone with end stage cancer. Its worth a try if your only have days or weeks to live.

My response is slightly off topic. I haven't tried the mangosteen juice but I have been making my own raw juice consistently and the dull aching pain that was developing in my left hip joint has disappeared. It was probably something arthritic, but being a bc survivor, there's always the inevitable fear of any pain being something more ominous.
I dusted off my juicer in december of last year. Back in those days, carrot juice was all I drank. I probably drank juice once daily 2-3 times a week. In January I started adding other ingredients, striving for a juice from green vegetables, most of which I didn't really like. Then in august I hit on a combination of fruits and vegetables plus a slice of ginger that I love. I now juice twice daily. I suspect it may be the ginger that really helped the aching hip go away, but that's just my speculation.
Now that I juice twice a day, it's a struggle just to buy all my ingredients and keep an adequate supply on hand. Maybe I should add mangosteen juice to my christmas list. That's the only likely way I'll have any to try in the near future.
Mainly, I just wanted to chime in to say that getting results from drinking juice requires time and dedication. Drink it every day and stick with it.

Various studies have shown that phytoceuticals in Mangosteen (in some cases known to be its xanthones) have properties such as: anti-tumor (shrinks tumors), anti-leukemia, antifungal (critical for all cancer patients), antibacterial (to protect DNA), antioxidants (at least two dozen different kinds of xanthones are in the mangosteen fruit), antiproliferation, kills cancer cells and causes apoptosis (programmed cell death) for some types of cancer. This is a pretty impressive list of cancer credentials!
-
I do buy Mangosteen. It's a little pricy, but I feel its worth it. I mix about 2 ounces in my juice or smoothies. Sometimes I drink it by itself.
-
OK.....I am bumping this. I started taking a product called VEMMA this morning. They say it has lots of antioxidants. SOMEONE please chime in and let me know.....I have finished chemo and am currently doing radaition. I will do #19 on Monday. I have 30 total to do....
MAY GOD BLESS US ALL

Mangosteen is ok if you are detoxing after or between treatments. You don't want to undermine your treatment by blocking free radicals. That is was radiation and chemo are. They get inside the cells and choke them out. Antioxidents can block this action. From the reading I have done most antioxidents have a very short half life. They only stay in the body a few hours. Something to consider if you are detoxing between treatments. For example, chemo works in the body for 10-14 days. If your treaments are 21 days apart, you can detox for a week or so to avoid the cummulative build up of chemo goobers that are no longer doing any work for you. I don't know how long Radiation stays active but the fact that we need do it daily tells me that it is not more than 24 hours.

I tried mangostein. It didn't stop my cancer but it made my hair thicker. Would still buy it if I could afford it.
