I learned a new one today at my doctors appt.  Our healthcare people here probably know about the Td vaccine booster for adults but I sure didn't.  I know about keeping up with a tetanus shot.  I hadn't had one in years though.  My doctor told me today adults 19 thru 64 years of age who are in close contact with an infants younger than 12 months and healthcare workers who have direct patient contact in hospital's or clinics should get a dose of Tdap.  It's the Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis vaccine.  He said Tdap was licensed in 2005 as the first vaccine for children and adults that protects against all three diseases.  The nurse that gave it to me said they all had to have it as they are in contact with so many people.
